One refrigerator leads to a LOT of future work!

So I got a call 2 days ago from a gentlemen 30 minutes away from me. Tell me he had a refrigerator and wanted to know what I charge to remove it, and that it was still hooked up.

I asked him specifically where he was in Woodbridge. Then after that 2 minute conversation, I told him that I can do it for $35. He asked me how soon I could do it, and I told him that I could arrive first thing the next morning. So we agreed on a time, got his information, and ended the call.

So, I get down there, and this guy's house was beyond awesome. He was living in a $1 Million+ home sitting right on the water. So, I ring the door bell, and he comes to the door. I introduce myself, and hand him a business card. Once I go inside, for whatever reason, I told him "I am in love with your home, but mainly the view".

Then he went on to tell me that it belonged to his late fiance who passed almost a year ago from cancer, and left him the house and her real estate company. I of course told him that I was sorry for his loss, and I know a little of what that is like, as I lost my mother to cancer as well.

So to be friendly, I started up a conversation asking him what kind of real estate they did, as I was preparing to remove the refrigerator.

Long story short, the gentlemen was more than impressed on how quickly I disconnected the refrigerator, ensured there was no real mess, that nothing dripped all over his white carpets, and then put back anything that I moved to make my job easier.

So, when he comes outside to pay me, he asks me what all do I take. I quickly give him a general idea of what we remove, and also tell him that we deal with residential and commercial. He asked me if we deal with real estate property clean outs. I told him that was actually one of our biggest things to do most of the time.

So, then he informs me that he has a LOT of stuff in his offices he wants removed and asked me if I would be interested. I told him yes of course. Asked me what I would charge. I told him, depends on where the offices are located and how much work was involved, and how much labor I needed to bring with me, but I guaranteed him that it would be cheaper than any competitor. He said he wasn't worried over that. So, he said that he will have his people get things together, and then contact me.

Then he tells me that he will contact me for bids when they have any kind of property that needs to be removed!

A small fish equals a BIG whale!

Don't mean for this to be a book. Long time since I did a thread like this, so figured I make it a good one.

    Cheers!
