wooooooh! i won a grant for ewaste!

well as some of you know im in college and had to put scrapping on hold. I found out the town over from my college charges 25 bucks a tv, like 5-15 for printers, and 30 for an ac, etc. so I aplied for a grant for entrepreneurship, corr might need some pointers guys in order to help me if you could give me some advice it'd be great.
so far i have a business plan for:
    advertisment postcards
    direct mailing
    uhaul truck rental, etc

Congratulations! Man I'd recommend avoiding truck rental. A lease maybe, if it's cheaper than buying one, but buying would be the best route for that.

yeah truck rental isnt the greatest idea but penske, international and several of the other major truck players all have pretty good leasing options if you need it, but buying a truck and trailer are probably your best options to start out. no sense paying for a big truck every day if you need it once a month. good luck to you. personally i would take it for free, and you will have more than you know what to do with and be hiring guys if your only competition is charging that much.

That's great. I have have some questions-

Are you planning to break the e-waste down yourself ? Do you need cash for labor since you are a full-time student?

Where are you going to take your hazardous waste? What will that cost?

You may need money for accounting help unless you are going to do that yourself.

You will probably need business insurance and money to cover gas and phone as well.

Business licenses and certifications are additional costs to include in your budget.

I also think that AAA is a good idea. You would want to check to see if it covers commercial leases or not.

You might want to talk to your local chapter of SCORE about how to put together a business plan. My understanding is that they provide free consulting.

Hope it works out for you!

thanks guys for responding! and yes me and my 2 friends will be breaking down the ewaste, we're not sure about tvs though because they're a pain in the ***. where i live i can put any old electronics for curbside pickup for free. So we will charge customers near my school a price much lower than what their town charges (10-15/unit) compared to 25-30/unit. I can put up to 5 tvs a week on my curb for pickup for free. gutted or non gutted. awesome right

Check with your city first. That is more than likely for home owners only. Business trash will be a much different and if they see 5 a week they will soon be knocking on your door.
