Never had luck like today

Paid $15 for this and a bag of bubble wrapped misc goods..

I can't seem to figure out the set it seems to be missing pieces and or having extra so I will probably sell it as scrap. The reason I say this is because some pieces look the same but are inscribed with initials or the date, others aren't then the numbers of each piece don't match. It is from the early 1900's roughly 1905-1915. I have seen some complete sets sell for 2800-3800, it would be nice to figure out and try to get more than scrap sterling price....No complaints either way.

Who is the best sterling scrap buyer?

Very nice "get"!! You could take it to a local antiques dealer, then double what he offers as a reasonable retail price. I would try ebay first, but truth is that the economy has killed the antiques biz and sterling has probably held its value.

hmm this was in august but seems like the stuff sells for around scrap value. Mine is Rogers, Lunt, Bowlen Mount Vernon Pattern.

Cashed out yesterday with a family friend. Cash paid on the spot 85% got $26/ounce, kept a good bit my self like anything with a silver handle and still walked out with $1600.

Luck follows me around. I scored this box for $15 today as well...I have gone to hundreds/thousands of garage sales since the last one and I haven't scored a single piece of sterling until today.






^Some of the weight is knives, and there was 3 mismatched pieces in there that weren't sterling so I'd say I'll end up with roughly 8lbs of sterling.

When my pap died, he had that exact same set in his attic. I sold it on ebay for $40 plus shipping. I looked it up and I didn't find anything that said it was any precious metals. Well it was silverplated, but thats it.

Edit: I just seen where you said about Sterling, the one my pap had wasn't sterling. But the wooden box looked exactly the same.

They are generic boxes so it is all about what is inside them.
