Computer parts VS gold plated items

The title says it all .
I see if you have computer parts as is people pay good money for the gold content or even the use of part , If you pull the pins or cut the fingers people pay good money also for the gold plating possibility.
So my question is acquiring Gold plated items as in jewelry even novelty coins ,could they also be considered a stackable product or how about a better word - Boxed = stackable , Is it a bad idea to find any gold plated items and box them away for the future .
