A fun thread- I wish I had the space (and organizational skills) some of you have!

Not sure if I can think of something that hasn't been mentioned. I guess I really do have a bucket (ok, a jar) for "found money" that I keep separate from everything else.

I tend to over-sort- these items would probably all go in sirscrapsalot's "OMG ITS GOLD bucket™!"
SIM cards
printer cartridge chips
gold-dotted mylar from printer cartridges
super-flat ribbon wire
gold-legged transistors

Some larger items...
HD actuator arms +/- controller cards
CD/DVD "eyeballs" (what am I going to *do* with these things?).

I keep Cu-Ni HD screws, jack screws and brass and aluminum standoff screws in separate pill-bottles (no real reason, just do)- they could certainly be dumped elsewhere (though people apparently buy computer jack screws in bulk on eBay). I have another bucket of HD spindle motors (again, can probably be lumped elsewhere) and for no reason whatsoever I keep the little steel pickup guide-rails from CD/DVD drives separated in their own little jar- some are stainless, most aren't. I have larger ones from printers as well (I saw a pile of them poking out on the table in one of erewen's photos) that I keep around, too.

I also have sub-buckets for low-grade foreign coins, but again those could be tossed in with already mentioned items...

Oh, it goes without saying that copper cents are kept separate from the lousy zinc ones. Actually both zinc *and* copper cents were made in 1982. I toss the copper '82s right in with the older ones, but this might bite me later as everyone seems to go by the rule that anything from '82 on is zinc. Anyone examining my stash may think that I made a mistake (or am trying to pull a fast one) and reject the pile.

I've taught my kids how to tell the difference between copper and zinc cents- bounce one on a hard surface. If it *rings*, it's copper, if it *thunks*, it's zinc. I suppose wheaties get yet another sub-bucket...

I did want to add another bucket thing that just came up: ferrite torroids, with or without the Cu windings. Apparently these are a thing on eBay.

Good addition, hobo. And another one for colored tabs, if people want to maximize those. I actually have four: one for regular tabs, colored tabs, square tabs, and the large tabs.

We are a bunch of crazy mo fos with all our buckets.

I have a "Treasure" bucket. (Actually a small jar) In it are rings, necklaces, earings, etc. Stuff that I find that may or may not be gold or silver. Found a ring in a dryer, and a little gold necklace in a box of random computer parts once.

Just wanted to bump the bucket list! Lots and lots of buckets!

Living in an apartment, I don't have buckets. I have folgers jugs that get filled, then they get emptied into bigger protein jugs, or boxes for the bigger stuff. I can't wait to get a house.

I recently added a new bucket, I used to put my small transformers and the fly-back transformers all in one bucket. Last week the bucket was full, so I took it to my copper yard. They were going to only give me shred price because of the fly-back transformers were mixed in with the other transformers. So I just took them back with me, I have separated them and now have two buckets for transformers. They used to take them together, change in policy, now will need to find a buyer for the fly-backs.
