Great find the other night. Big big score.

Every Monday night is big trash pickup so i got the truck out and hit the streets. I was having an extremely good night and had the car filled with the usual microwaves, vacuums, lamps, wire, Christmas lights, and some odd and end metal things.

So the night was coming close to an end and I only had a few streets to go and there my prize sat.

Sitting on the side of the street was a 60" Samsung flat screen tv.

I picked it up with serious doubt it would work but i thought what the heck, i will try it when i get home. So when i got home I plugged it in, and to my disbelief, BAM it worked perfect.

Great find for me because my girlfriend and i were going to go to Walmart and get the 60" they were going to have for $688.00. So in short, i got $46 bucks for my scrap metal and a free 60" tv..

Good luck and great finds to everyone

When it's something I already have, don't think will sell quickly, and I'm in scrapping mode, stuff gets ripped apart pretty quickly.

On the other hand, if I came across a 60" TV, you better believe I'm gonna plug it in and see if it works!

I've torn apart so many regular TVs without even checking to see if they work, it's kind of a shame, really. Most of them probably do.

I found a 32" LG out by the curb with no visible problems. Got it home and plugged it in, no problems. I walk out to my car to lock up and my neighbor is yelling for me because there is white smoke coming from the garage. The TV was smoking so bad. No wonder it was curb side.

I normally test stuff on a power strip on the porch after I give it the "sniff test".

My dad was always tinkering with electronics, fried caps, wiring, it all has "that smell" to me. Usually if I pop them open I find out my nose didn't lie. lol

Congrats on the find, you don't find that everyday, heck I had a call from a lady wanting to get rid of a upright freezer, it was an old on, made by white westinghouse, to make a long story short, I got it home and plugged it in and it works, got it for free.
