I used to work for a motor rewind shop & new sales and the most we would ever pay for a working motor single phase or 3 phase was $1/HP. Why?? Because to remain a reputable shop we had to garrantee them for 1 year, so that meant they had to be torn down, cleaned, sometimes the stator had to be redipped with varnish, maybe new leads put on, rotor balanced, new bearings, etc., assembled, tested, and painted. And after all that the selling price would end up anywhere between 40%-60% of a new one. We had a full warehouse of rebuilt motors, all good to go, and some of them were there when I started and were still there when I left 12 years later.
Just my 2c.
