I have CU in construction grade - yes - find free - yes - Now I do save - pennies - nickels - silver . If the monetary system falls apart . certainly there will be choice metals to have as a buffer against a zero value currency. But logically any coin with copper nickel will be of value to some one , that some one might melt down the coins illegally but if people are desperate all the back yard foundries will want coins that are copper and alloys in addition to pure metals. I see that
ebay has a fever going on with a metal horde craze , and the IKE is fitting in, as i see a low of 129.00 to a high of 149.00 per 100 . If the Ike was made of zinc & chrome steel people would be buying them ? . There was an attempt in the Ike to quality , as i mention the weight is equal to lower value currency's mathematically correct . The Barbara Ann Dollar $1 is smaller then a quarter and thats not an accident . less metal !! Sure got a gold color . the weight is not there . People are hording nickels 75% CU 25% NI well the IKE is 75% CU 25% NI also . I am convinced any currency made of base metals will have value . And by all means acquiring the most for the least Money is desirable. But just having it is important .The day America does have to scrap it's currency as if it were base scrap metals will be a sad day for us all , after all how much metal is to much to have the thirst for metal can't be quenched.
