I just got my first trailer and can't wait to get to using it. I need to get plates then I'm good to go. I traded a ar15 pistol for it and we were both happy with the deal. I hope the pics work.

one of the essential tools of the trade. just watch tolls. now you have 2 extra axles to jack the price up.

Thanks guys, is there any lock that's better than the others? I know if a crook wants it he'll get, but I want to make it hard as heck.

just anything that fits makes me feel better, anything to slow em down a bit is better than nothing. The longer it takes them to figure it out the better. I even take the safety chains when I park it, and with the jack rolled out, I wrap each chain around the jack handle from different directions, and back under the tungue, and put another lock there. It takes less than a minute to lock it down, but increases the time it would take a thief to get it moving by quite a bit.
Probably a good hardened lock is best tho. Actually I'm glad you mentioned that, my better lock was jamming and needed some oil or something, I put a cheaper master lock on it, need to get that better lock back on it. Little cheap locks can be broken pretty easy with a punch and hammer, or a bolt cutter, probly a sawzall too would cut right through a cheap one without much effort.

I'm not an expert on trailer locks, but I'll show you what we have used and what we currently use.
Currently use
Haven't had any issues using this style. Pretty tough and would be fairly difficult to remove being we use a disc lock as shown.
We also use this style. Works okay. I do question how hard it would be to get off if someone had a large pair of bolt cutters.
Use to use this style and then I had to go and lose the keys. Thankfully it wasn't on the trailer at the time. Very tough, would take awhile to cut off I would think.
Never have used this style, nor would I. Say you're locking a 2 inch or 2 5/16, All a thief has to do is drop it onto a 1 7/8 and run off.
They also have this type of lock.
Another idea would be to loop a short piece of chain through two wheels (tandem axle), or back over itself on the axle if it's a single.
While looking for pictures I came across this type. Secures the coupler and chain.
