Searching ebay for a Harddrive I have to sell.
Seagate 500 GB Baord Only $39.99
Seagate 500 GB Hard Drive $24.99
So if I pull the board off I could sell it for more then the complete drive?
Maybe I should list board only if it does not sell the sell complete drive.

Remember, this is just what is being asked for the item. Check completed listings for your searches to see what sells, at what price, and how often. I would think there's less of a market for just the board.

the drives are going at $15 including shipping, you might get a better price/deal selling to one of our members that buys hard drives. Especially if you have alot of drives. The buyers will take hard drives 40gb and larger.

I'm surprised you found the first listing since "board" was spelled wrong.
I don't know how much experience you have with eBay, but if you are new try to remember that just because you list something doesn't mean it's going to sell.
rawresale, Both the items I listed were sold. Yes I search for that.
jghilino, The buyer here buys 500Gb for $10. They sell for more on ebay.

$15 minus shipping and fees your looking at $8, if you have 10 or more hard drives its definitely gonna be worth it to sell to one of our buyers

Your right they do sell for more on ebay since thats where I sell them after I buy them from the forum members. I do however fully test and wipe them before selling them so there is a bit of time envolved. Takes about 8 hours or so to wipe a 500gb drive.

Yes PTS is very fair with his pricing.....He takes all the risk involved with Ebay and does all the testing.....I have sold to him as well as tested and sold on Ebay.........Have not had a return on a hard drive yet on ebay but I can only test a couple of drives at a time and it is time consuming

Pat's HP XW8200 coughed a sata hard drive after seeing all those Seagate boards on ebay gotta tell ya something, I opted for a SCUSI hard drive instead.
To recover the data from the puked HD, I put it in the freezer for a couple of hours, anyhow it lasted long enough to recover the data we needed.
I think that I'm going to take Ubuntu up on their free offer on the 5 gigs of Sky Drive aka Cloud.

I've always liked SCSIs, have ones from years ago that can still pace with the newer types
Were do you get the $15 I see alot that sold for more and charged for shipping.

8 hours? It takes 8 hours just to do a full format of the drive. But it can do that when I sleep and am out working making money.
To be honest I am thinking about sending my drive to you. Right now I do not see many that are the ones you buy so I am just selling the few I get on Ebay.
And yes I know what I am doing and the risk with Ebay.

If your using a wipe program to DOD wipe the drives you dont need to do a low level format. If you like to sell on ebay by all means sell them on ebay. I just offer my services for those looking for more than scrap value who dont want to take the time to test and sell stuff on ebay themselves.

Only advice that I would offer, is to check completed listings and look for more than 1 that has been sold. I have wasted the time a few times, trying to sell a few on ebay because I saw one or two like mine had sold, and they did not move.
Another thing to, is start the bidding off kind of low.

I thought a low level format also did a test of each sector to make sure it was good. Is this wrong?

If I were selling hard drives I would pre load them with Ubuntu, to do a complete install and total format less than 30 minutes, use a common pass word on each drive that the buyer can change.
The nice thing about a Linux Ubuntu pre loaded drive being installed into a new computer is that the OS recognizes hardware changes on the first boot pressing F1 accepts the changes until the OS recognizes new hardware changes.
And 90% of the buyes would delete Ubuntu and Install windows or us it as a second drive.
Lets face it most people still use windows.
