    Biggest Load Yet

Got a call yesterday from a CL add, guy asked what i would charge him to remove some computers and servers that were left ina building he bought, when i told him i would take them for free he got pretty excited, i asked him how much he has and he told me a room full. I took the big cargo van and he wasnt kidding i have the thing loaded to the roof and i ran out of room and had to put the last few towers on the passenger seat. i would say 75 percent of the load is servers and i didnt realize how heavy they were, im glad the van is a 1 ton. So far i have $40.00 in diesel fuel invested, i did buy the 2 guys that gave me the stuff dinner at McDonalds since they helped carry it all out of a basment and wouldnt take any money they were just glad to see it gone. So total investment so far is under $60.00 i may hire a friend to help break it down today. I will get some pictures when i go out to unload it

Just have to check ebay and see there Joe. Probly be easy enough to use one of the servers they're coming out of to test and wipe em with. Some may have windows server on em, you'd just have to sort through them to see. Sometimes servers are configured with Linux

looks like they are going for 25 bucks and up on ebay. i couldnt find a server complete enough to run and i dont know enough to try to build one up. I took on of the SCSI cards out and put it in my PC and it seems to be working but it wants me to format the drive so looks like i have some research to do

why not go ahead and format it, and see where it takes you? The end result with that might be just what you wanted in the first place.
If your testing machines power supply has enough hook-ups to power more drives you may be able to hook up numerous HDs at a time(by setting each SCSI drive to it's own number, usually 1-6 or 8-14 I believe it is)depending on the SCSI cable you use, but I'm not sure how many you could format/test at once. I've always just tested/formated/prepared one at a time as I needed it

Also if the drive's file system is for Linux, you'll need to change it to a NTFS for using Windows

I wouldve slipped him a $50 bill and a couple business cards and told him to call me back when he finds more escrap. Another trick that works good is to carry some gift cards with you and hand them out to new contacts. Odds are it would pay off better in the long run, beacuse you would get a long term customer and referrals. Nice load reguardless. Find any gold tops in those?
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE

There is probably quite a bit of escrap in these abandoned buildings that nobody knows is there. When the whole dot-com thing went down the drain along with the commercial real estate industry, there was a lot of stuff left behind in phone closets that once belonged a bunch of defunct companies.
