No picture of the first load, which was just under 4 thousand.
This load netted 5860 lbs. Its pushing the trailer limits, trailer has two 3800 lb axels, its just under 2,000 empty. rated at 8500 gvwr. The truck will pull 8500 safely. Next step - perhaps a 14 of 16 ft dump trailer?

IF you go for a dump trailer. Mau I sugest a goosneck variety. Yes you loose the bes when your hauling the trailer but it just pulls and turns so much nicer. Not to mention it puts the weight over the axle instead of on the tail end of the truck.

Your absoloutly right part - time - scrapper you cant beat how well a gooseneck handles a load with out impacting the tow vehicle. My next trailer build is going to be a gooseneck, can hardly wait for warmer weather so that I can start dismantling that old bus to get the frame rails.
I almost have the buss emptied out, been trying to sell the engine and transmission so far no takers.
As this build progresses I will post onto the forum my progress along with where my materials and parts came from.

yes its a 250. ive been seriously considering a gooseneck. thoroughly weighing the options on maximizing the payload with out taxing the truck engine too much.
Nice setup. Congrats. Looks like a black truck...tough color to keep clean, but looks sharp when she is.
Sure beats my Charger pulling a Harbor Freight 4X8. I pulled about 1500 lbs today and that is pushing it.

Was running like this the first half of 2012. I would have been happy to get more than a 1,000 on a trip. glad those days are over. I used to make 3 to 5 trips every sat, usually 700 to 800 pounds a trip give or take.

I have the same kind of truck myself. I do have a Ford Edge Performance Kit (Power Management) and 2 Banks turbo chargers on mine. I have had mine since it was new in 2001. It still performs flawlessly every day.
A couple hints.
1.) Keep up the maintenance.
2.) Buy good fuel.
There may a million better places to live than Iowa, but none of them are home!

And if it's a diesel Power service is a must in the winter. Not howes or any of those cheap winter treatments, they are a waste of money. I've seen how worthless they are first hand, don't even waste your money.

Only took once or twice for the 2 yards I use to remember me. The first time backing over the scale was a bit nerve racking, but had luck on my side. No pulling forward. Now that I am used to the short wheel base, it's easy.I bet the scale guys know who you are with that car!
