find a metal insert that will fit down inside it, or maybe see if a flat rate box will go in there ; )

i bet it would work good for plastic and cans, it is just a regular trash compactor or is it an industrial hydraulic compactor?

i have an old kenmore compactor from the 1900's out in the garage that still kicks ass

only one problem with using it to crush plastic bottles or cans. it will easily hold a couple few hundred bottles but if you dont use one of the expensive liner bags you end up with a couple few hundred loose flat water bottles or cans that now gotta be picked back out of the hopper or dumped on the floor and shoveled up.

My trash yard that I pick up computers from was showing me a trash compactor that he picked up cheap from a remodeled school. Someone threw it into their dumpster after remodeling the kitchen area. It is a stand up unit about 6'-7' tall and you open the front door and chuck the stuff in.
He uses it for compacting alum cans after he buys them. When it's done it comes out in a cube about 2' square. Works great for his smaller operation.
Their SS also so they will hold up. Might be worth keeping an eye out for during a school auction.

I have personally scrapped a kitchen size trash compactor, (Not Commercial) It was quite hard to take apart, Broke 5 SawZall blades and took the larger part of the day, and i never ended up getting all the scrap out of it, Just put it in as shred (Not worth taking apart)
