Hell with the convention I'm just coming to hang out with Barren. And as far as that whole "copy write" on the 007 my good Barren...I'll take 001, just because..there has to be a first. Or we can have a "who can polish off the most out of the traveling cooler" contest...
Sirscrapalot - Bartender 001 :P
I say go for it and pick a spot. There is no location that will will please everyone. If it works out to your liking maybe next year do it in a different location. There are other conventions that pick different parts of the country every year. This seems to help with people located at one coast or another.
I would totally go!! Sorry - finally getting a second to catch up around here - Hopefully it ends up being located close to me though... either way I'll be there physically if I can and in spirit if all else fails!
T-Shirts! There must be T-Shirts!

I would.time and money permitting.
I would go if my funds let me and it is kid friendly
I would be so stoked to attend...unfortunately us Canuckle Heads need a passport to get into the US now and I don't have one. Maybe we'll do an SMF North one...
METAL IS MY MISTRESS...PLEASE DON'T TELL MY WIFE!
would try to go
Attendance: I would go. I'd also be willing to buy an advance sale ticket.
Speakers: I would think some great speakers would be certain high-profile buyers on the forum, DEFINITELY the EPA, and also R2 and eStewards could talk about certification for us little guys. I'd like to hear Easy teach us Ubuntu!
Date: Everyone thinks winter would be good but the truth is late summer would probably be better. Summer is busy = money to take a road trip. Winter is slim pickings = no money. Another thing is it sucks to come back from a conference all fired up and be slow like it is in the winter.
Place: My vote is Vegas but I've been looking for a reason to get out there anyways! I love that roulette wheel and she loves me back!!!

Great idea, am in. Regardless of the time of the year, holding it during the week would save money and highlight the freedom scrappers enjoy. Las Vegas would allow a tour to Pawn Stars. Bringing in American Pickers as a guest speaker would allow a discussion about the difference between scrap, antiques, and trash among us newbies.
It is known that the winter is a slow time for our profession so money is limited. The other side is if we could save time and money by saving for it during more profitable times and take a vacation during the slow times, we are ahead. Guess is that this is tax deductible. For those working full time and scrapping during free time, when would it be easier to take a vacation. Just an idea.
If it wasn't too far away, yes I would come. I just bought me a jetta for a daily driver, so I'd be up for a semi-medium distance cruise.
