    Putting on the squeeze

The consistent rule is set in stone the ratio to metal to plastic is very low now. For me thats a big thing NO MORE - Radios - Coffee makers - or any appliance with plastic about 1 % to 2 % is all now they take . I see the difference the massive piles look cleaner the only fluff slipping by are from cars fridges ECT . This must be what is required from the main buyers.

That could be a problem for sure. I haven't seen any tightening like that down here yet.

I don't want to sound like a dishonest scrapper but it takes away some of my leverage . They play games all the time and i am not getting into it. But finding those items was always easy and it has metal . I figure the yard wants to not have to deal with the fluff so they save some money on the disposal of fluff , what I feel a bit annoyed at is I still see the game on there end and for me no way to even it out . I feel if they want 99.9% metal then I want 99.9% no games

Demand it of them and see where it ends up, they make the rules cause they can.

They are trying to maximze their return up the ladder on your back. That is business but at that point, if your a big enough customer, you need to negotiate a bit better price per pound than typical "shred" or you need to shop your goods to a more competitive yard.

The yard is paying for steel not plastic. Not much steel in a coffee maker or a vacuums. Coffee makers have a piece of irony cast Al. one small piece of steel and some wires. Vacuums, I pull the motor (worth more than shred) and the wires. None of the yards by me will take anything with circuit boards in them like radios or vcr's. just my .02

Yes happy I know whats inside those Items .Today I took in 80 pounds of TV boards and the counter person hits me at .10 per pound (always is at least .15) I say whats up with the .10 per LB - I say it's always .15 Then I got it at .15 - Some things up , they are trying to squeeze so hard now. Even trying to change the rules of short cause they want me to toss it towards mix. Conservatively I have handled 422,400 pounds of metal in my career and I am small fry but I know I am the guy carrying the product and they are trying to redirect and or readjust prices as they want. They are paying $230 a GT for Mix I feel is probably not to bad all in all . But basically they are only game in town, as I live in the country.

My local yard kept bugging my about selling escrap to them, I told the boss that his prices sucked and that was why I didn't sell to them.
He asked me how much poundage I had for low grade as an example. I told him around 200lb to start and he stated that at that volume he could give me dealer price and basically doubled the price. I delivered 183 lb and 95 lb of power supplies. I guess dealer price is for the higher volume of escrap. Might want to ask, can't hurt.
