Hey everyone, I know it has been a while since I been on. I mainly been away due to being sick and then being busy with jobs as well.

Anyway, as I told you all, I was finally able to meet up with the guy. After talking with him, and a few other people about the deal, I decided that even though my company would be looking at making over $18,000 I wouldn't see anything close to that, and that practically all the profits would be going to the guy and his family, when I be doing all the loading, sorting, breaking down, transporting, tools, etc.

The guy told me the property was roughly 30 miles away, and that I MUST make multiple trips a day or no deal (well that is not always an easy thing to do, since there is multiple variables into play with each load). I also asked him if they would be ok if I got it set up to have roll offs dropped off (was able to great some great pricing), and the guy refused. Said I must haul it all myself (My trailer can only hold 3,500 lbs at a time, and the car trailer can hold mainly 10,000), and we were talking over 500,000lbs of scrap metal.

Also, I was going to try and negotiate a 60/40 split, since again I and my team would be doing it all, which to me is more than fair, but they were very adamant about 50/50 or no deal.

Also, the numbers that I had for the guy, kept coming back as invalid. I know the guy is real, and I am sure the whole deal was genuine, and I really didn't want to miss out on an opportunity like that, but after figuring up everything, I realized that it was not worth all the headache it was going to cause me in the long run.

I even talked with my family and some close friends about it, and they all pretty much agreed with me.

Aside from this deal, I have been under the weather a little bit. I had some heart/chest issues. After researching online, and talking with a few doctors, they determined that I must have pulled something that was causing me some slight discomfort when I was breathing. They told me to take it easy for a little while and rest, but if it continued or got worse, or went away and came back, to come back in for some different tests.

So far so good.

Aside from that, like I said, I have just been busy. Got a couple new local buyers for stuff that I will be coming across doing pickups, as well as a few new clients that look to be good repeat customers.

Thanks for the update bud, and glad your ok. Those pulled muscles can be a bastard to deal with. I speak from experience..I've pulled muscles many times in my upper core, and it isn't fun. Do as the docs say and don't cheat! Daily stretches will help sort you out and mend faster to. I learned that last time I eff'd up my back so bad, the doc had me in rehab/PT for 4 months. Not fun at all.

Again glad ya feeling better and good to know you been busy! Sucks the deal fell through tho.

Yeah I was taking it very easy for a while. While doing that, I slowly re entered re investing, and about to break into that again. Still setting up my team of people, but so far things with that are going pretty good as well.

If the dude and his family were more cooperative with me, it would have been done (atleast a lot of it), but you can only do so much before you just have to say that you gave it all you could. I unfortunately cannot dedicate that much time to one single job and leave other clients hanging out in the wind.

Plus, I am not about to do everything myself for a 50/50 cut. If the roles were reversed, I wouldnt expect 50% profit when someone else is doing all the work.

Hey George glad your feeling better. Sorry about the motherload not working out but there is always one lurking somewhere. I dont blame you for walking away. The guy should have been happy with a 60/40 split but some people you just can not talk too.

It's alright. I actually was beating myself up over it a lot, because I couldn't swallow walking away from potential gross profits of $18,000+ but in the end, I am glad that I did it.

This guy even told me about him hiring others and how crappy they were. I guaranteed him that it would all be done as quick as possible and told him the best way I could make it happen. In the end, it just wasn't good enough for him.

Now that they've spoken with an actual professional scrapper, that'll put the "let's get rid of this JUNK and get $$ for it!!" bug in their ear. That can be the necessary motivation for some people.

But you know there is always someone willing to work for almost nothing, and think their making something.
