lol

I love this thread, but I swear I put on 10lbs just reading it.

    few things...

Yes..5 guys in Northern Va is the original home for it(Arlington,va was the first). An no, none are the same once they branched out of Va/MD area. There is reason they are so well loved. That sucks they ruined it out west from what it sounds like. Dun know about paying by the piece..You order a burger, fries, an a soda..just like everywhere else. They don't have a lot of options...it's all burgers, with the exception of a hot dog(not bad) and a grilled cheese(also not bad) but I go for the burgers. They are good for a restaurant. **** good. An yes out east in Va/Md an even here on my sandbar..if you order fries, you will get a half a bag of them. Fresh cut, different potato every day. the one here on my sandbar is just like home, well close enough. I've been eating at 5 guys since they opened, so...I can honestly say..I know a bit about them. lol.

**** fine burgers, don't know if I'd call them the best, but they sure are close. We go there now an then for a taste of home, to the one here on the sandbar. There is always a line and a wait during the summer.

Second...I'm going to KZ's for breakfast, hitting up Cory for Lunch, not sure about dinner..someone post their dinner! I need a third stop!

Third...on wings. I love wings. I prefer the garlic butter, regular hot, or some other variation that isn't going to burn my throat. We had a place in N.Va once called Buffalo Wing University. Good wings, cold beer, great mixed drinks, an very lovely bar tender lasses. this was when I was single man. They had some wings called DOA, literally had to sign a wavier for them. Was always funny going around happy hour an hanging out, an watching the college kids from George Mason U who thought they were all bad ass, order them, then run off to the bathroom to get sick, after 2 wings. LOL. An when I say mixed drinks...they had about 50 different types of shooter bombs. Basically a shooter of <whatever flavor rum, energy drink, they used roaring lion, cant say if it works with redbull.) Best was one called a bazooka. It litteraly tasted like the old Bazooka bubble gum, to the point you'd be trying to blow bubbles after drinking it. It's gone down hill from what I hear since last time I was there though, which makes me sad. Edit : Reason I like them not so hot, is due to a bleeding ulcer when I was younger. Really hot just puts me in pain, an is no fun. So I gotta keep it where I can enjoy it. An 30 wings..with 8 beers, sounds like just a start to me.

Fourth..Have at it Cory. Rock my tagline in your own variation. I like you enough. You ever make it out this way, we'll head up to Va beach, there is a shop up there I've dying to try. Huge Pastrami, corned beef, etc sandwiches. I mean huge. Big as your head huge! I think the average one costs about 15 bucks. They got one that is..like 3lbs. 1lb of turkey, 1lb of Pastrami, 1lb of Corned beef, = 23.99! Or some where around that range. I will get there! We got a place here on the sandbar, been around 20 years or so, convenience store, and sub shop. They make THE BEST subs on the sandbar. I mean kick ass style. So good you'll want to slap your grandma.

An anywhere that serves a lb of bacon with everything..is my kind of place.

This thread should be a sticky with a warning of "Reading this thread will put 10lbs on you per page.." Ha ha!

Keep'm coming Cory, an as always..be safe out there boss. I want pics next time...you know royalties for you using my tagline.

Sirscrapalot - If I stopped doing everything people said was unhealthy..I'd never get to enjoy life.

I love to eat, my favorite kick back home now is a place called king Kahn, Mongolian stir fry. Every kind of meat from lamb to shrimp, everything you could imagine from the garden and 15-20 flavors of sauce they cook it in. 5 different noodles or 3 kinds of rice. You can actually eat there every day of the year and not eat the same thing twice. I eat there at least once a week when I'm home. I looked all thru my phone for a pic and couldn't find one.

I eat out at least twice a day, everyone that knows me makes fun of me about all I know but at the same time ask where to go. I'm weird tho when it comes to food, on the way to Kansas I was craving mcnuggets from mcdonalds. A couple times a year I have to have a 1/4 w cheese. I also love the Waffle House when it's good but it seems that it either sucks or is good and there's no way to tell until it's too late. I love those gas station delis also when you get a good one, I got a Reuben somewhere in kc a few months ago beside a cell tower and I hope I've got that tower on my list of pms.

I usually eat lunch on the road around 2-3, common sense but if a parking lot is full this time of day on a weekday you can bet its a good place to eat!!!

Here are a couple things back home
    65 cent taco happy hour
I know where I can get ribs and sunkist orange or nu grape from the fountain
    50cent wing Wednesday back home
My roast beef sandwich on this thread mmmmmm
I could go on forever but why should I, I got a place 7 miles from my house that the soup of the day is BEER I posted this last week but I'll put it here in case someone missed it

expect the worst and hope for the best

I bet we can figure that out, I've never had to wash dishes yet .

Also I was rereading this thread, I worked in Mississippi last week and bought me some boiled peanuts at a truck stop. To be honest they sucked but when it was too late I realized I may have been eating them wrong. I was popping them open and just eating the nut, about an hour later after they got cold I ate one shell and all and there was some good flavor there but they were cold by that point. Idk I hate wasting money but I may give them a shot again one day, maybe someone could clue me in

Edit, Brojer the bill was $68 and 50 of that was mine, I usually eat in the $10 range and I only get silly once or twice a week tho, when I'm on the road I also eat at a Golden Corral about once a week

    lol

Nothing wrong with enjoying good food. An I hear you on Waffle House. They are either awesome, or they suck. There is one off 95 in Va near a hotel we stay at when up in the area around Richmond near the amusement park. It used to be awesome but now it sucks. According to my wife at lest, last time we went they were horrible. screwed up her meal, our two friends that went with us meal. Only person happy was me. Pork Chops, and Hashbrowns were awesome. Their's sucked. lol.

Had Golden Corral while away a couple weekends ago for my Birthday. Hadn't had GC in forever...totally kicked ass. We lack a gc or most major chains on my sandbar. Which is great alot of the time. No fried chicken tho, unless you hit up the local spots. We also have...Biscuit N' Porn! (hats an shirts available!) It's a gas station that is sold out by 9 for breakfast, an by 1 for the fried chicken. Some awesome food. Biscuits N' Porn For those that need proof. Also have a store here, while it's just snacks, it's called, Try My Nuts. lol. They sell Nuts, hot sauce, an lot of other stuff. Not a store your going to let your kid run around freely. (The t shirts have adult langauge an themes, thick Dirty ****'s Crabhouse, Johnson t shirts..etc) Hell even the hot sauce wall you should at lest be a teen..lol. Fun store tho. Try My Nuts Online

For buffets, we of course have several really good ones, specially if your a fan of seafood. Jimmy's Buffet is probably the one i like best. We have a Capt. Georges, their expensive, but the deal killer for me is...most of their seafood is imported. WTF. I like local. Nobody wants frozen fish. So I go to the others. Figure if' its going to cost me 30 bucks a head, I may as well get fresh! We see the trucks roll in everyday for them, as...I live right behind them. My favorite place on the sandbar is probably the jolly roger. Italian meets seafood...truly an awesome place to eat. Their breakfast is one of the cheapest, n most plentiful.

Love me some good food, specially when traveling. Some of the best spots I've found are off the beaten path an in the oddest places. I recall some kick ass tacos from a DQ in the middle of BFE Texas I stopped at one time. To this day some of the best tacos I ever had. lol.

    Eat. live. love. Ha ha!

Interesting topic now I'm hungry. Although I've changed my diet in recent years every now and then i have to have a corned beef sandwich from slymans in Cleveland. I saw a line one day going around the corner at this place and said to myself what are they selling! Turns out the best corned beef I've ever had.

Up here a cheap place to eat is White Castle, (it's an acquired taste for their burgers/sliders). But I sure do miss Chicken Annie's and Chicken Mary's down in South East Kansas. Loved their home made onion rings.

White Castle is all over in GA I think it is. I might be thinking of someone similar. The ones from the shop are so many times better then the frozen ones at the grocery store it isn't even.

    Love me some White Castle.

I drove by a few of these in Kansas(in Dallas now), this one is 100ft from my hotel. What you see below is the Elvis which, bacon, peanut butter and honey. I got no bananas. It was one of the best things I've ever ate. But let's be honest everything's better with bacon and everything's better with peanut butter, it's just a matter of time before Reese's comes out with a special edition

    Look what I found
    http://uncrate.com/stuff/peanut-butter-bacon-cups/

Edit again, Sirscrap this is for you, on the link above click vices, all sorts of beers and whiskeys, one was maple bacon coffee flavor

Edit again, on the 2nd or 3rd page of vices is one called punishment that they dumped an assortment of chiles into the barrel

That Irish Whiskey better be good, at 180 bucks a bottle!

Bout the only way I'll ever drink coffee, is if it has whiskey in it. Not even bacon will get me to drink coffee.

The bloody mary I may have to try. Here on the sandbar one can order such things at breakfast if one had a 'fun' night before. Ah..living at the beach, where people don't look at you funny if you order a Bloody Mary or Mimosa at breakfast. Well..if your a tourist.

They got some crazy prices, I'm have to do some research to see if their just crazy or it's really good aged product. You gotta be something special for me to drop 320 on a bottle. An no..that doesn't go in the cooler, it goes in the super hiding secret stash that nobody will ever find or get a taste of unless I'm in a really good mood.

Is the sandwich from a vending machine that makes it as you order it? Looks like it from the pic! Not the food but the machine picture.

We need more cool vending machines like the Japanese. Everything from noodle an chicken to cars an porn! One stop shopping Baaaabby!

    LOL

Cory something for you to read on later when your back at the room..24 Vending Machines You Won't Believe Exist

Number 8 is awesome, an I can see number 3 being modified for Co. an Wa. lol.

Sirscrapalot - Bacon an beer is a great idea...just saying.

Sirscrap, it's a sandwich shop like firehouse or Quiznos, each number is a different kind of sandwich, chicken beef seafood......... Then you fill out the bag with what you want on your sandwich then turn it in. It was my first time and was pretty simple. I'm gonna check out the vending machines now

Ahh cool, I couldn't tell from the pic. I blame my cold.

Speaking on Quiznos...I was just reading about them going under. I was never a fan. Firehouse I enjoy tho.

Ah..a good sub is just awesome when you find a spot that does them right. I'd send you one from my favorite place here on the sandbar, but alas..I don't think it would survive the postal trip, or even from the store to the post office.

I gotta thank you again for this thread Cory, it's one of my favorites.

There's no one to deride me! But ya gotta have friends! Shrek: Stop singing! Well, it's no wonder you don't have any friends. Donkey: Wow! Only a true friend would be that truly honest.

I liked the lobster one at Quiznos, the two around my house closed and I've not noticed one in my travels. By the way I'm staying at a choice hotel, they advertise over 20 restaurants within walking distance, I know I like the closest one
