Got a quick question on the power supply/source box pulled from a computer. When I pull them out, should I scrap them down or sell it intact to one of the guys who buy/sell escrap? I would post the question there but they would not let me. I guess you need some fancy privilege to do that. Get back at me fellas and gals.

You are probably better off cutting the wire and sell as two different commodities locally. Lot of weight to ship.
I don't think you need any fancy priveledges for that. On mine I cut the wires off and sell the rest as power supplies. I average .5 pound of insukated wire and 3 pounds of power supply per piece. Average out to around 1.60 per piece at the prices my yard pays.

I personally strip them down. The boards in there are a pain to take apart but i save them with my low grade boards and breakdown on a rainy / snowy day.

We cut the wires off they are sold as number two insulated, the power box goes as a electric motors sell them local, as said before to much weight to ship

id set aside the ones 400watts and higher that have sata connectors, thats what i am seeing the most demand for, id try to sell them to local buyers or computer repair stores before i would consider shipping them
350 watts and lower are all scrap unless they are 80plus cetified

I have pulled several apart in the last few days & found the plastic coated wires, with the clips weight about 250grams.
@NZ$3 a Kg for plastic coated wire, they are worth about NZ$0.75cents for each bunch of wire.
NZ$1.00 = US$0.82 cents so say they are worth about US$0.60cents each bunch.
Theres a few with solid copper sheet heatsinks & one power supply had a off board power regulator that was still holding electricity.....

I pull the board out, cut the wires off 1.05# the board goes to my local buyer for .40# and the steel box goes in shreed for .10#

I cut the wires while the box is still inside the computer and send the rest to shred. I hate power supplies with a passion.

None of my yards buy them as anything but shred, and I hate breaking those down. Trust me, if I could get electric motor price, I would.
I sell them complete at my local yard, 30 cents a pound. Taking about 1200 lbs of them over there tomorrow.

I have to agree with you on that one Jghilino. Anything under 400w isn't worth keeping, unless it's from a vintage computer that is in demand. Its really a personal choice, but shipping them in bulk would get expensive

I guess its different strokes for different folks
Bring one to your scrap yard.
Ask them what they would pay:
Whole
Without wires
Wires with ends on
Wires without ends
My current yard will only pay $0.10/lbs for them and only $0.50/lbs for the wires.
So I am not bringing it to the scrap yard

if you check the buyers section, there are atleast 3-4 buyers in texas. I don't know if any of them are near you.
