    Today, took my wire home...

I went to the yard today with my non-ferrous and #2 insulated. Usually I get 1.00-1.15 for #2 insulated and was surprised when I looked at the board and saw #1 insulated at 1.85 a pound and #2 insulated at .65 cents a pound. The price was so low I even asked to make sure someone didn't write it down wrong.

I didn't feel like driving to another yard and got stuck unloading 80 pounds of wire.

I have been stripping wire for a week or so. I undestand why you took it back. I have worked with a few yards the new one I tried I could not see the weight of me stuff on the scale? I guess I needed to take his word for it, yea right.

The other yard I use they weigh my stuff than had three helpers take the scrap and dump it before I know what they were going to pay me. They also once took 50 lbs of breakage that they were not going to pay me for to dump it in their scrap pile, I stopped them and told them what scrap they do not pay for to give it back I will sell it someplace else.

I read a sign at a scrap yard it said I have a right to except less money for my scrap, but I also have a right to take my scrap back.

I haven't really gotten into stripping things like appliance cords (except for 220 cords). Does anyone strip this stuff by hand or does everyone use a machine?

Try a box cutter, they work better.
