The mother load fridge

I got out early to day and had a good hunt from 7am to 9:30 - six TV's dismantled (and put back together neat ) 2 in truck still - A computer - 2 barbecue grills Cast aluminum - toaster - 2 vacs - some toys for e bay or kids and some clothes for son (Name types) . miscellaneous metal AND finally a small fridge 5 foot tall maybe 3 foot wide . with no door to be found . The fridge looks around 70 years old it's before my childhood and i am in my 50's I think it said westing house . Any way I went to move it like a champ and like - HO There - Ok must be iced to grass NOPE . I have to say this thing is so frigen heavy I could barely move it . I did but I grunted with every push . To bad the door was gone must have been some good weight there also . Also a nice trendy looking fridge. The compressor looks
LARGE nice copper pipes also Just amazed how a relativity small fridge has that weight. Nope they don't build things the way they used to.

i"ve had those before i did a 1938 ge jukebox fridge me and one of my employees almost broke the lift gate at 620 lbs

nice score. be careful, i have heard some of the old fridges had interesting refrigerants in them

Yup..sulfur dioxide..very deadly..be careful with those babies

Yes, do some research before cutting any lines on those old refrigerators. The really old ones were killers.

I have found old fridges sometimes have a lot of copper in them.

Like the whole things copper, with copper tubing silver soldered to copper sheetmetal lined freezer box.

Yes took apart . Lots of copper wire . and the CU tubing was wound all around on the inner skin of fridge. It was relativity easy to get at ( 4 screws and some plastic was all that held the inner skin ) also there was a section with 1 1/2 inch copper pipe more then a foot long 2 Aluminium shelves with AL pipe wound on the AL sheet a compressor that looks like a space ship . And they used fabric insulation back in the day

Now with all due respect it was interesting to take apart this old fridge as you see how they build fridges now and see the comparison. They knew what they were doing and the construction was very strong and the copper pipes are thick . I found an oldie before but never took it apart Now I know .
