    My first load?

I just received an email this morning from a guy who has two complete 4cylinder engines. Asked what I would pay for them so now I have to figured that out as well as do I I want to scrap or try and sell these? Does anyone know roughly what these would weigh? What do you normally give for this kind of thing? I know four cylinders are not that heavy I was thinking between 400 and 600lbs between both of them if they are heavy steel it about 8.50 per hundred so I think I should offer around $50. Sound about right to anyone?

right now steel by me is 10 cents a lb = $60.00 if you scrap them out. You will only make a profit of 10 bucks and thats eaten up by gas and taxes. Unless I'm getting the weights confused. if they are cast aluminum well thats a nother story but you still have to make a profit.

$ 20 is fare after gas no big profit I think you doing him a favor , if this guy who has the engines is not in the business , well it's a huge favor as does he want to use his car for nasty work then take out the time to go to yard . Even the man with engines is looking at 3 hrs work to - load - drive - weigh in - unload - weigh out - get paid - drive home . and forgot get hands dirty and or strong enough to move the weight . No more then 20
even if the seller is in the biz, he probably makes more money doing his task , so for him taking time out for the yard is a loss for him as the time at the yard is 7 AM to 5 PM his work hours

At my place my brother has a 4 cylinder OHV engine sitting in my grandmothers shed when i can be arsed i am going to unbolt the head rip the aluminium head off it and sell it. The rocket cover is made of aluminium as well might
get more than ten dollars if i am lucky, there is a rather ulgly hole in the side bottom of the block where the conrod tried to exit the engine, the head has some steel on it that needs taking off like valves and spring lots of oil to deal with.
I guess if i had a car and trailer i could sell the rest and get shred price.
