stablizer cylinder blew apart on my backhoe

I was using my backhoe to fill my dump trailer and crush and move around some of the load. I was using the swing cylinder to try to move some steel towards the front of the trailer it stopped I kept trying to push the stuff sideways. All of a sudden I heard a loud boom and hydraulic fluid started spraying towards and over my dump trailer. The aluminum top of my cylinder blew out the threads. Found out the top of my cylinder is aluminum and the rest of the cylinder is steel. The swing cylinders with the boom extended is defiantly the weakest point of the backhoe. I took it to the hydraulic shop and asked for an estimate to fix it I told them I wanted to save all of the old parts. They told me $575.- dollars and that my cylinder rod was scratched. I said ok they fixed my tractor cylinder that I went to pick it up. They did a good job but when I looked at the old cylinder there were some tiny scratches ½” of an inch long and only deep enough to feel with your finger nail.
Had I seen the cylinder first I would of asked them to reuse the cylinder and not replace it I feel like I spent hundreds of dollars needlessly.
By the way the scrap only paid 160 a ton and I got $130.- out of that load.
Some days it is better do stay in bed that work. Anyways I will be more gentle with my backhoe in the future. David

I know how you feel. Ever blown 2 150$ tires hauling 400$ worth of shred ? Takes the profit out of the load real quick ! Keep your head up bro, repair work always sucks but usually pays you back in the long run more than you think.
