so the consence is don't do it. well i did it infront of the owners son, just to make a point (i was having a conversation about
ewaste.) guy was bringing in finger crds ram and processors. i quoted him double what the yard pays, (which still leaves me a healthy profit from ewasted) and later in the conversation we walked through the little area that they process ewaste and i was showing him all the $4-5/# gold plated boards that they had misorted into thier mid grade gaylord (they sell mid grade in the $1.50 range.) THERE WAS A CIRIX 686 GOLD CAP PROCESSOR LAYING ON THE GROUND i handed it to him and told him , when you have time look up how much that is worth, (i'm assuming he did since he still talks to me)
there was a 99% chance it would have been swept up and thrown out. i also told him that i need a full time job with benifits min 16 hr. and that it would bring atleast another $50 a hour to thier income stream, he siad he'd think about it. i tried to explain that wth the ewaste the profit is in the processing and upgrading the material, not the selling in bulk, and they are working on it but it's slow to change thier business model. I think i made a impact in thier way of thinking though, as my offer of double what thier paying (i gave him printouts of the offers from the buyers here) still leaves them a larger proft margin, as they normally sell to a broker who sells to a large broker, and the food chain is too long for people taking thier cut and not upgrading the product. so why not top grade the product at the begining of the chain and keep the most profit for yourself? i asked him. the answer was, well we are not set up to do that YET. my response, set me up in that corner with a certified scale/ computer station and for 16 a hr i'll do it for you. i'm still waiting for the official job offer....
