I'm new so forgive me if I sound a bit dumb.
I have pallets of 85# UPS batteries from PowerVar that are expired but still new in the box. I'm guessing 60-75 in total.
Where do I recycle them?
What are they worth?

hek, if they're still new in box, how could they go bad? If they're lead-acid, they should go same as car batteries at any scrap yard. Call around to get your best prices

They are older stock from a discontinued line of product. They may very well be usable but I cant sell them as such any longer so my only option is to scrap them. They are fairly expensive so it's a pretty big write off for me.

you should get a decent price, not sure where you are, but here it's about 25 or 30 cents i think. I have a bunch of small ones, but haven't decided yet whether to scrap or use them

are you a dealer or something? why you can't sell them now? is it something a single user would never need? Those are some big batteries.

you still might do better than scrap by selling them to another type of end user, such as batteries for home solar/wind installations etc. Have you thought of listing them for that, on craigslist or something?

If you want to scrap them, your local yard should give you lead-acid battery price for them. I've gotten all sizes; from computer back-up to off-the-grid whole house batteries (over 300 pounds). They all went as batteries.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
I would just recycle them .they are lead acid batteries .same as car batteries. but it you decide to recycle them call around to the yards. get prices and make sure you know about how much weight you have .many yards will pay more if you have over 1000 lbs. believe it or not that extra 5 cents a lb is a big difference when you have that much..my perfered yard pays 20-25 cents a lb .but if I have over 500 lbs I get 30-35 a lb and for over 1000 I get 40-45 .so its a big differance

Steve, you might try calling Exide to see if they're interested in a one-time pick-up in your area. To find your local Exide recycler, look on their website. They'll pay about twice what your scrap yard would and they'll likely send a truck to pick them up if they're palletized. Next, try a local battery dealer - like NAPA or Interstate (just examples, not an endorsement).

Just an idea, by why not get them tested by one of those machines like they have at auto parts stores?
I just ran 1282 lbs of those batteries down. Price was 32C!!
