What to do with all these!

I went to a yardsale at a neighbors house last week and picked up a box full of assorted cables. I just don't know what to do with it all! Some is copper and others are computer power chords and ethernets cables and all sorts. What do I do with them? eBay? Will yards take them as is? Can I strip them?

Now that bunny knows what to do with those cables.

When I first looked at that bunny, I didn't see a bunny at first.

Take them to the yard. Get insulated price for them. Try to flip your money.

I knew some of it had copper (Christmas lights, charger chords).
It was a dollar and I thought I could make a profit. But what to do with Ethernet and computer power cords?!

ummmm YES

Cut the bulbs off of the xmas lights.
Cut the plugs and ends off of everything.
Save the ethernet plugs in a different pile, these go to an ewaste buyer.
So, now you have wires with no ends, plugs, or bulbs on them. Take them to your scrap yard and sell them.

Thanks! but That's a lot of bulbs. But the yard will take basically any cords as long as no ends or hard plastic?

haha. My sister had a pet rabbit. We let it run around the house. One day he chewed through the Nintendo cord. Was able to patch it and get back to playing.

They will take them with the ends or hard plastic, but they will give you less money for them. Same for the christmas lights. Every yard is different, but generally all of the wire you mentioned would sell as #2 insulated copper wire with all of the crap off of them. You will find out how your yard does things when you bring them in.

The yard i use pays me .25 lb on Christmas lights with the bulbs still on them. For me, at that price,its not worth the time and reduced weight to cut them up.
Might be worth asking before you spend all that time.

Also, Is it worth your gas to drive these to a scrap yard? I know I live $10-15 away from the scrap yard depending on how loaded I am and what vehicle, etc

Call your yard to see how they want it. By me you can leave the ends on and still get #2 ins wire price (.95 lb last time) I do pull off the brass ends and save them in with my brass. As for plug ends that have transformers in them, the transformers can go in with my electric motors. Any ends that have steel get cut off and go in with the steel pile. By me christmas lights with ends cut off can also go in with the #2 ins wire pile. Coax cable goes in with the steel pile.

Where is the brass in the cord? And what does a transformer look like on a plug? What's coax cable? (I'm trying to learn here, don't judge me)
