    scored an ibm 5150 today

took almost 2hrs trying to find the place after I picked up 15 computers from a guy that called me and then he told me about his friends dad in the country who had a few and some other stuff microwaves and such said sure and went there and ya he had some stuff in the basement went into the room filled with clutter which is not always but usually a good sign but had no idea it would be this good and after rooting though some vintage parts manuals and even 2 old printers. low and behold sitting on the table were it was first placed still plugged in was an imb 5150 so all I had to do was fire it up and did I ever get excited. which was bad sort of because he knew I wanted it then and it was funny cause between everything I got free was at least $300 worth so that's what was in my mind. when he asked about it being vintage and complete and showed me more the box, 9 unopened and 1 with 6 in it of boxes of floppy and the Microsoft adventure game. im sure seeing my face said well I would sell it to you since I forgot it even being down here, which in my mind im thinking you giving me all this free stuff blah blah, and I said well I will give ya $300 cause that's all I have on me and he belted out, for $300 I will let ya have everything in the basement except for the water heater and we both laughed and talked a bit while I was packing it up as gently as I could lol these are the days I love and love to check off my holy grail list number 3 is good now for a lisa and a apple 1 omg lol

i miss those days, we used to write BASIC programs, i remember when we first got the internet we got a 2400 baud modem and AOL in the late 80's, we used aol on our mac and the games were all on floppys, also had a commodore that used the 5" floppies, i love vintage computer stuff

Is that a 5150 (PC) or a 5160 (XT)? PC should have 5 slots an XT should have 8. Usually HDs and half height floppy drives are XT.

Hey, there you are! Did you ever get that 5150 I sent you working? Shame it was just the box & no peripherals/cabling/etc. I hope you did... nice to see a classic get a happy home.

More then scrap, list is starting at $50 and see where it goes. You will need pictures of the insides so people can see which version motherboard and what cards are installed etc.

People list all kinds of common gear on ebay for 100x what it is worth, few if any sell. Some people start stuff at $.99 and free shipping then ***** when it sells for $2.50. The value is somewhere in between depending on who is looking and who got paid.
