If there is one type of metal i want to hoard it's lead , I have around 200 # but it's pure luck I have it 95# was given to me as ingots from an old boss
I found a 5 # ingot wiping solder yesterday the rest is in the form of raw plumbing and old tolit pipeing I also have about 35# copper wire with a lead case
As i was doing lead research i discovered i had 4 of these Pure Tin Metal Bar Ingots SN Lot of 50 Pounds Lead Free Solder Bars 50lbs | eBay
I always thought it was lead now i think it might be pure tin as my
    sticks look the same
    -----------------------
I see that Lead is a great seller on E bay . How much would you members offer tire a station fo lead weights I was thinking just offer Spot Zinc price at yard payout and hope for some lead weights
    ------------------------
I found batteries is not worth trying to get the lead So any tips how to find it free or at 50% under spot value

Ebay might be ok if what I read on Wickipedia is true
Lead - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Production and consumption of lead is increasing worldwide. Total annual production is about 8 million tonnes; about half is produced from recycled scrap. The top lead producing countries, as of 2008, are Australia, China, USA, Peru, Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Morocco, South Africa and North Korea.[45] Australia, China and the United States account for more than half of primary production.[46] In 2010, 9.6 million tonnes of lead were produced, of which 4.1 million tonnes came from mining.[47]

At current use rates, the supply of lead is estimated to run out in 42 years.[48] Environmental analyst Lester Brown has suggested lead could run out within 18 years based on an extrapolation of 2% growth per year.[49] This may need to be reviewed to take account of renewed interest in recycling, and rapid progress in fuel cell technology. According to the International Resource Panel's Metal Stocks in Society report, the global per capita stock of lead in use in society is 8 kg. Much of this is in more-developed countries (20–150 kg per capita) rather than less-developed countries (1–4 kg per capita).[50]

    Our grandchildren

    from wiki
Peak copper is a hypothetical point in time at which the maximum global copper production rate is reached. Since copper is a finite resource, at some point in the future new production from within the earth will diminish, and at some earlier time production will reach a maximum. When this will occur is a matter of dispute. Unlike fossil fuels, however, copper is scrapped and reused and it has been estimated that at least 80% of all copper ever mined is still available (having been repeatedly recycled).[1] Copper is among the most important industrial metals. Copper is used in electrical power cables, data cables, electrical equipment, automobile radiators, cooling and refrigeration tubing, heat exchangers, artillery shell casings, small arms ammunition, water pipes, and jewellery. Copper has been in use at least 10,000 years, but more than 95% of all copper ever mined and smelted has been extracted since 1900. As India and China race to catch up with the West, the copper supply chain is becoming more strained,[2] leading to increased prices and an increase in copper theft.

Globally, economic copper resources are being depleted with the equivalent production of three world-class copper mines being consumed annually.[2] Environmental analyst Lester Brown has suggested copper might run out within 25 years based on what he considered a reasonable extrapolation of 2% growth per year.[7]

    ----------------------------------------------------
As you see even copper has the possibility of running dry , If that is so, there will be other advancements in the use of other metals ,How could that not be so , What could happen is the toss away attitude will end ,all appliances will have a price boom that will cause people to conserve what they purchase. most vacuums i find work they are just clogged fact is most every thing I find works . you name it . that some day I figure will stop . The pinch will be felt world wide as all societies will conserve , less will be sold But what will be sold might have the quality that the finite truth of copper and lead deserve

Us Wacke scrappers might be making our grandchildren rich by our stash

You can get lead on e-bay. Type in "lead ingot" or "scrap lead".

If you're hoarding it as an investment and you have a very educated idea that it is going to be worth a significant amt more in the future than I'd say yes pay more. It's like the stock market you buy a stock for the ask which is usually higher than the bid and hope it's worth more than both in the future. Lead won't go out of "business" anytime soon.

No. But you may get lucky with the "scrap lead" search. Also try the same kind of searches in your local Craig's list.

I always check in piles of shingles that roofers dump out in the C and D landfill. Lots of them don't think to take the lead wrap that goes on the plumbing vents through the roof.

I have been selling 6lbs of 50/50 tin/lead solder for 40-43 bucks, BIN on evilbay. There is a good market for people who who doing reloading. Many live out in the country, have no easy access to bulk qty's, and are willing to pay a bit of a premium, to have it delivered to their door.

Look for small independent roofers who are doing tear offs, slate and metal work. If I remember, the last lead vent flashing's i got were 17lbs each. (to soft for reloading) If they are doing any kind of metal/copper install on box gutters, downspouts, flashing's, etc...they may leave a bucket full of the 50/50 on a job site or in the back of the truck. If it rains and gets "weathered", many will toss it a side and grab new, out of the box. After shipping, fees, yada yada, in round numbers, I am making 5 bucks a pound.

but, what works for me, may not for you, Up North there, in God's country ;-)

yes I'm going to see what the roofing jobs have to offer.
I can see why a good ingot would have value as i have made some ingots from batteries and plumbing pipes
Weight loss occurs as melted dirty lead is a liquid . the garbage floats to the top.
