Today's tiny scrap load, 200 LBS of shred with non - ferrous. Mostly computer cases:



As I was at the small scale, the scale guy put a bucket full of plumbing brass on the scale that wasn't mine and started to write it on my ticket. I stopped him because I'm honest. Better for him to not pay for something twice if he doesn't have to. Ethics and honesty first. Got about $35 for this small load, but It's better than nothing.

Love the ratchet straps, gives the law one less reason to dislike you. I always appreciate people who secure their scrap. "that guy" who losses bits and pieces going to the yard and makes no attempt to be legal, lights, chains, etc, makes us all look bad, ESP with the law. Only thing worse is "that guy" who's littering the highway with scrap that is stolen. Anyway, im done ranting and hijacking.

Right before i get to the yard theres a spot on the side of the road,seems somebody ahead of me loses something,So i always pull over there to unstrap and look around for the goodys.

I think thats a good idea actually, I haven't been able to do too much curb shopping as I literally have no time. lol, I am picking up anything I can to try to grow the hoard. A microwave tossed onto my front porch, a crock pot sitting on the side of the road, it all adds up. This thread probably won't be updated as often as I would like unfortunately. I'm hoping to file my DBA sometime this month even though I said I would file it earlier. I didn't get around to it when I said I would unfortunately, too much going on. Anyway, admin, if your reading this I think the name change would be a good idea.

Bought this pile from my neighbors garage sale for $5, I think I'll recoup my money on it. I don't have weights on the stuff, but there are some pretty boards though.







The finger cards are scrap as far as I'm concerned. I got two WinTV D423's, two USB extender cards, a GeForce 9500 with a copper heat sink, and a GeForce 2mx-200. If anyone wants to buy any of these, PM me.

As I'm writing this, my neighbor came over and dropped off probably 10 LBS of wire, and he said everything is free. So I grabbed a small file cabinet, a waffle maker, and they brought me 4 aluminum crutches, two weed whackers, and a box of smoke detectors and doorbells and stuff. I got way more than I was supposed to get for my $5.

Their some of my favorite places to stop an buy stuff. An the wife doesn't nag me for looking cause she's doing the same for craft stuff, an other things she likes..LOL.

Haha yea. This is the same guy who puts junk computers in front of my garage when he "rescues" them from his work for parts and gives the leftovers to me. I was just talking to him and it turns out he is moving across town, so maybe there will be some more scrap coming my way.

Ok, here is the heavy load I managed to load up today:

480 Lbs of tin and non ferrous. The guys at the yard could barely get that green bucket out of the back of the car. lol It probably weighed 200+ pounds full of those bolts and washers I was talking about a few weeks back. He said that they wernt "thick enough" to be short iron which is a penny higher then tin. I didn't argue about it, not worth it.

Sunday paid off again today, scored a half full water heater, cast BBQ, and another ruined bicycle with lots of aluminum. All of this was within a half mile radius of my house. I picked up a washing machine yesterday and am probably going to pick up a few rolls of wire and some nice heavy window bars from a church tomorrow. My backyard is getting BAD again, lol. The shred pile in the back is about 14 ft long and about 4 ft high in some places right now. My neighbors love me.

It's been worse. I know a lot of y'all have bigger piles, but usually when it gets to about this point, I haul to the yard. That's not going to happen for about a week so the "hoard" as I've named it, will continue to grow.

People say my piles of stuff is junk, I say they are piles of money.

Yea, sledge hammer works wonders. Just break the plastic on the back side and unscrew the 4 screws that hold the motor in, then break the plastic off the front just around where the plastic blades are and pull the motor out. I can get a little more weight on tin like that, my yard doesn't care.

I picked this stuff up today from my neighborhood Curb-co. Couple brass lamps, Brass heater core, Ceiling fan, part of a clutch (I think) and some other junk. I got caught in the rain though. Because I do my neighborhoods and the surrounding ones on my bike on the day before my trash day, I got soaking wet. Oh well, it was fun.

The dome one was. His legs were ripped off when I found it. Poor guy, he was probably only a couple years old too. May we hold a moment of silence for our lost grilling comrad...
