Ok just wondering because I'm going to get a trailer
If I were you, I would by a 5X10 or 5X12. The 4X8 is really small and most of the time I can't fit all of my shred in and I have to leave it behind for next load. But this is probably the largest size trailer my Subaru Forester tow vehicle can pull, so it works for right now. I'm saving up to buy a cheap truck hopefully by next spring.
We still have a small 4 ft. truck bed
Eying another trailer at menards but its $1400 not sure on size but I think its big enough to fit a car. Going to thing about it.
Ok well I picked this stuff up today, and got more than I expected. I was expecting a couple little rolls of CAT 5 cable and some heavy steel, but instead I got a "massive" roll of 2 core alarm wire with an un-insulated ground. I think I'm going to keep this stuff and try to strip it, maybe buy a cheap wire stripper. The most the yards are paying right now is like .60 cents a pound for insulated, so I'm going to try to strip it for a experiment I guess.
Those white things came with it. Those are vents for a a/c system and weigh about 65 LBS total.
Well, I sold off all of my E-scrap today. I sold off about 70 LBS of motherboards, 40 LBS of Mid-grade, 10 LBS of Fingercards, 40 LBS of low grade and a lot of other stuff. I walked away with a little under $300. I didn't sell to an online buyer (Sorry guys) because I found a buyer with decent pricing about 20 Miles away from me. I got about the same prices as I would have gotten with shipping to a buyer on here. Anyway, this just gave me the drive to find even more to try and get more of this stuff. I just want to say THANK YOU TO EVERYONE ON SMF for all of the help and information y'all have shared here. This is an awesome community and I am glad to be a part of it. Thanks A LOT guys!!!
Also, a shout-out to Waredu for telling me about this buyer. Your the man!
Sweet haul ! Hope drool is covered my insurance on my iPhone!

3rd generation scrapper and dam proud of it
Wow, you had this much stuff tossed around your yard. I run a tight ship and don't have much space so I don't hold things for long.
Ok well here is the update for today. I haven't really been looking for scrap that much because I've been real busy, but I had a pretty good day today. I woke up and checked Craigslist and ran over to see an ad for some scrap metal and computer cases that was a couple miles from my house. I missed it by literally 5 minutes because I pulled up right as a scrapper was putting the last piece into his van. I picked up what he left behind (printer and about 1/2 lb of wire) and went to go help my grandfather fix his washing machine. In the process, we ended up cleaning his garage out a little and I took home a lawnmower, edger engine, tons of tin and aluminum cans, 4 ceiling fans and some other junk, probably $30-40 worth.
A few hours later, we went to go eat lunch and go to Home Depot to get some parts for his sprinkler system. On the way, I spotted an easy up frame by a dumpster for a farmers market and stuffed that into the Subaru. We went back and put a new valve in his sprinklers and I spotted that his neighbor still had a fridge sitting in his driveway after about 2 weeks. This guy and is the maintenance man for an apartment complex and I'm pretty sure he scraps his own stuff, but I left him a note anyway. Hopefully, I can pick that up tomorrow morning and make a scrap run next weekend. Anyway, I probably went way too far into detail here, but that way my Saturday. Hopefully tomorrow will bring more goodies. Thanks guys!
Ok, this is the update from the last two weeks. I'm pretty sure BBQ and Mower Season has hit Austin, I have scrapped more lawnmowers in these last two weeks than I have in two months earlier in the year lol. Over the last two weeks, I've picked up a full size refridgerator, several lawnmowers, at least 6-7 BBQ's, large and small, and tons of other randomness. The one thing I haven't gotten a lot of has been computers, unfortunately. I can honestly say this is THE worst the "Hoard" has ever been. I can't even get to my workbench it's so bad, but I'm not complaining.
Anyway, today has been pretty good. I found a fancy grill with burned out burners around the corner from me and walked it back home. They left it with a half full tank of propane, so I could care less about the scrap, FREE PROPANE! I went and did my Sunday run and came out real well. I only got scrap from one street that I do, but it was the good stuff. I found a electric weed eater and went and asked about it. The guy ended up giving me 40 LBS of Motorcycle batteries. On the same street, I found a set of aluminum chairs, a scrap lawnmower, and two workout bike things. I had to borrow my buddies truck to fit it all since I don't have one right now, and I paid him and made my money back on the batteries alone. I'm hoping to make a couple scrap runs next week, so we will see how that goes.
Scrap on people, scrap on!
I took in two loads today, totaling around $200. The first load was:
380 LBS of shred (lots of lawmower stuff)
8 Lbs of clean brass
5 lbs of wire
38 lbs of motors
38 lbs of batteries
We've gotten over 4 inches of rain in the last few days, so the yard was a complete mud pit. I almost got stuck at the shred pile twice, very scary.
The second load was taken later that day. It contained a fridge full of stuff, a BBQ and lots of aluminum. They almost shorted me $50 on my clean aluminum. Instead of the ticket saying I had 140 LBS of clean aluminum, it said I had 14 LBS of clean aluminum copper radiators which I had none of. I'm glad I checked my receipt before I left their driveway. Anyway, everything got sorted out and I got my additional $50.
