Lying about computer recycling on craigslist.

This kid is in my area, lying about computer recycling. He's trying to lie to people saying he is messing with them for a school project. I emailed him and he said he is recycling them for money. Now I find that unhonest, and unprofessional. He shouldn't be lying to try and get inventory..

I've seen similar adds, but they want the people to bring the computers to them.

I have seen this too many times. One poster even goes on to say that he does it for charity and does not make money or resell your stuff like eeveryone one else does.

I saw a very similar one recently. Kid wanting to "learn about computers". He should have been smart enough to use a different phone number than the one on all the scrap metal wanted ads that he's posted.

SMe being 17 and still in school pursuing an electronics degree i could post something like that. But i wont cause I know everything there is to know about computer hardware and seeing as i built a 1000 dollar gaming rig. And its pretty hard to see how a computer works just by looking inside. You could go on google and learn the binary and ttl logic controllers that make it work.

The kid straight up told me hes recycling them for money. Hes trying to make people feel good by making them think their junk is going to the education when really its going in his pocket...

That just makes me mad that hes doing that especially in my area.

I don't have a problem with somebody asking for something for free. It's the lying about what you're doing that is not cool in my opinion. Different strokes for different folks, though.

Maybe try working out a deal with him on them. Tell him you'll buy them for double or whatever if he takes down the BS ads about needing them for school

Want me to add fuel to the fire? I thought ya might.
I picked up a laptop on a clean-out, it looked as if it had had it.. I looked on CL thinking someone may want it anyway- and maybe they could repair it. I don't have the ad as it stood but it went something like this:

"Looking for a Laptop.. I'm an older gentleman and just need something that works or may need some work.. Just looking for something simple and I can't afford very much to spend blah blah blah"

I call him and tell him what I have.. he tells me he will be in my area on such and such a day. The Older Gentleman.. Pulls up in a BMW and dressed to the hilt! I knew I had been had.. But as I am a man of my word- I gave him the **** laptop for free as I promised. He knew I knew the jig was up and he offered me $ for it- I took the high road and said "Nope.. that's fine.. I offered it to you for free thinking you were in need.. but It appears you are fixing and flipping.. so go ahead and take it.. and oh.. have a nice day!"
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

People will lie, cheat and steal. We have to live with it. Obsessing over it will just cause undue stress.

Yes it can get to me as well, but I try not to let it happen.
