    Best time ?

What seems to be the best time of day to curb surf? I am working off a very fixed income and I need to watch my gas burnage. What seems to be the best items to find ?

You will have to keep an eye on when garbage goes out in your neck of the woods to maximize gas usage.

by me, sometimes it even depends on the season when it starts going out. winter time folks seem to put it out earlier. summer, it takes longer for the first round to go out because folks are doing yard work, cooking out, at the park, etc.

There is not an answer that will be applicable to everyone at every time. This is something you will have to find out for yourself through trial and error.

That being said, i go at night when I get off work. Anywhere from midnight to two in the morning.

The town i live in has a refuse collection schedule street by street that they publish on their website. Downloaded it to my phone and I can see what street gets picked up when.

Its really a crapshoot on what I find.

    Good luck!

I have found that with apartment complex dumpsters the best time is Sunday evening. Most of the ones around me will be filled to the brim by then and have lots of goodies sitting outside the dumpster. I know its not curb shopping, but it makes me good money. Last months take on free dumpster scrap that I took to auction was $395, and thats just the more than scrap value stuff.

The best time to dumpster dive at apartments is the last and first weeks of the month. This is when most people move in or out. If you can't afford the gas don't go curb shopping. When your out driving to and fro keep an eye out for anything that can be scrapped. Before you know it your eye's will be trainned to spot scrap before you get to it.
