I bring the dogs when out at night, an a very large bat and crowbar. Shotgun stays at home. LOL. So do the smaller ones. Thankfully my sandbar is a relatively peaceful place for the most part.

An PTS is that a AK/sk your son is shooting? Those things are bloody fun. I was taught when younger about firearms myself. Nothing like shooting some barrels/can/whatnot with a AK/SK, M16, Combat Shotgun, and a really old ass revolver that took mucho strength to pull that hammer back..LOL. Ah..memories of my youth.

Sirscrapalot - Nothing says "No trespassing" like a shotgun round being chambered.

@Mechanic688: Sorry, to interrupt the conversation, but I being new to the forum, I noticed you are from Warsaw. I live in South Bend, and just wanted to introduce myself. Nice to know some folks that live nearby, especially when it comes to scrapping!

I know this thread has been cold for awhile, but had a few things happen so I figured Id share. My Girlfriend likes to go on my rounds with me, which is great, but I keep a pistol (.410 derringer) in the truck for her. Im savvy enough to talk my way out of most things and good enough with my hands to handle myslef at least until she gets out with the pistol. Most of the time my German Shepard liek to ride along in the backseat. So she is secondary and long as I keep the windows rolled down.

Last week while checking dumpsters a family of raccoons wanted some table scraps more than I needed the scrap metal, but they saw me as a threat and attacked. I retreated to the passenger side of the truck as they jumped out and she handed me the pistol just as they got close, and I kicked them far enough away to get a shot off. and by then the dog was out and chased the rest off. While I was not bitten I was scractche denough to warrant a couple of steri-strips. It wasnt a fun scenario and Im glad I had it with me.
