around here you can get 8 to 10 cets per pound for the copper/steel coax wire.and 50 cents for the solid copper kind
The yard I go to does not buy coax But then I found a yard that does so I am always finding coax at the normal yard by the dumpster Yesterday someone threw one of those giant trash cans on wheels in the trash and I was like I'll take this

i went by a dumpster near the office space of a direct tv authorized installer Thought i had found gold. i saw some wire a few dish pieces then i started pulling out what i was hoping was some large pieces of copper core coax. i scratched it, it was still copper looking i cut it down the center it still looked all copper. (didnt have my magnet with me at time) I then googled the letters and numbers that were on the side. FOUND OUT IT WAS THAT copper steel cladded stuff. later when i got home tried the huge speaker magnet and bam! my hopes dropped like a rock.
This is a LNB...what is does..I have no idea. You'll have to ask the smarter heads then mine.
From my own personal experience I pulled mine from Direct TV ones. I can even post a pic of the dish it came off of to prove it was Direct TV dish. HA!
Now get out der an find ya some!

It's no problem, as long as you're not "Jackin' it in San Diego"! South Park fan?
Hey all, thanks for this thread! I've been pulling lots (and lots and lots) of copper-core coax out of my local DirecTV guy's garbage for a few weeks. Finally got a chance to talk with him and one thing led to another-- he sent me on my way with a trunk full of copper-core and steel dish mounts.
I dropped off an old garbage can at his house with my name and number on the side; he and his buddies are gonna stuff it with the cable they'd normally just throw out.
I know it's not much compared to what you guys do around here, but it puts some extra change in my pocket!
I think I know what a James Bond villain feels like when a plan starts to come together...
how much are the lnbs worth?
I usually pay between .50 and 1.00 ea. for them.
I hope your selling that coax as steel shred cause it is "copper clad" which means that it has a steel core. Check it with a magnet. What??Yep That was the first thing I did when I started pulling his coax. I probably wouldn't have bothered if he'd had any copper-clad steel in his can.
I have found that DirectTV coax has a solid copper conductor. All the coax I have seen from Dish TV and all cable companies has been the steel with a copper coating on it for the center conductor. Mike

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked
