people always think there car is worth so much money, they don't realize and I explain to them it may be worth more then I offer but thats because I have to cover gas wear and tear and labor and would like to have so spending money after. I have my ad title buying junk cars, and I guess everyone's definition of junk is different but I always get stuff that isn't junk and I can't handle flipping cars every week. a junk car should be about 100 bucks or less and not run and be beat to s**t, I would hate having to scrap something decent that has good parts just because I dont have room for it

I wouldnt worry about what kind of shape the car is in, as long as the money is right, I've scrapped several cars I've drove home but missing a title, interior was trashed, etc. I've scrapped as new as an '02 before, when I drive a 1984 !

If you're getting a steady stream of sellable cars, I would be looking to find a friend in the car business to flip them to.

I don't buy cars normally (I will sub out if a customer needs a car removed) but this thread is hilarious!

I'm actually really glad this thread came up, we can all blow off some steam, and I don't know about anyone else, but at least it makes me feel better knowing i'm not alone!

I've learned that buying cars is a numbers game. Some people think they can get more than I offer. If someone thinks they can get more good luck. I won't waste time on them. I will move on to the next one. Some times they call me back sometimes they don't.

Happened to me a little while ago, guy calls with an F-150. Told him 300 bucks, says no way, the tires are worth 300 alone! Ok no problem thanks for the call. Calls me back 2 days later "allllright come get it"

Guess what, the tires where worth that much, BUT... I had to do the leg work to sell them, which included breaking them down off the rims (25 bucks for a set of four for regular customers at the shop) then I had to list them, and store them for a few weeks. Not worth it to me if I had to pay more than 300 bucks.

Now adays, people dont value their time. they offer retarded amounts on cars, work their butts off, and make 50 bucks if they are lucky. I will never do that to myself.

Been guilty of this myself but getting better, the learning curve can be rough. Not all work is worthwhile, I had to learn that. Better to be waiting on the next job and cleaning up the shop then work your tail off for 5 days straight and make 100$ (true story).
