Too good to be true on Craigslist

I just about wet myself when I saw this. This was posted 30 minutes ago on Craigslist in the free section. 1600 lbs of scrap copper. I tried calling the number 4 times and I got voice mail but the phone was unable to take messages. You also can't reply to the ad thru email, so I am convinced it's a scam. Too good to be true.

Yeah, no-one would give that away.

My guess is someone is pranking their friend's phone #.

Either that or they're pranking the #'s they harvested the last time they posted something like this... which means you could be in line for a future pranking.

People that pull these kinda pranks shouldn't be allowed to share our air.

Sorry they got you... would've gotten me too!

EDIT: Yep. Scam/prank/jerk/etc. Google search for that image yields several hits:

    Some awesome "copper porn" there!

****! I knew that would happen. I tried searching for "Copper Bale" in Google but didn't see anything. Thanks for researching! LOL When I receive a call later trying to prank me or sell something I'm going to screw with them real bad!

And while you're hanging up with a snicker, the guy who called is maybe gonna be thinking "dam, I must be getting old or something, can't even give away a free car!" ; )

I went to CL Austin, right clicked the image on the ad, went to properties, and copies the source URL, then went to google & pasted the URL in the search field, then clicked where it said "For matching images, try search by image". Voila. You & every one else must've flagged the ad , it's gone now.

There was an ad just like that on Chicagoland CL about a year ago. The picture was the inside of a plumbing/piping supply warehouse with racks and racks of new pipe. At the time I thought someone was pranking a friend by putting their phone # on there but from what I remember the wording in the ad was almost identical. Now I'm wondering what the scam is.

The only thing they have is my cell phone number. No name or email thankfully. If they try to call I can just block them.
