    Talking Printers!

Well I just wanted to make a short post about some printers I found, They're 2 HP Officejet Pro 8500 all in one, 2 small printers that I'm too lazy to identify and a old CD drive. There all a pain in the arse to disassemble. Here's some pictures

The cd drive is an old external from the looks of it.

On officejets, check ebay to see if people are selling parts...then I pull the doors and trays (plastic anyways) and sell those as replacement parts. You can make far more than scrap for that.

Yeah I looked it up on ebay and a parts model is 35 dollars. So I'll probally have 65 dollars after I sell them (One would be 30 dollars because I smashed up the one motor trying to take it apart). Oh yeah I also pulled 4 cartridges out of the 2 smaller ones.(Did I mention I had 2x of each printer?)

Printers are so much pain, I don't even bother with them. They go to shred. It takes too much time to deal with and keeps one away from stuff that really pays off.

If I'm feeling really destructive, I'll take a rip claw hammer to the sides in search of the board, but I've been known to pull ink cartridges and toss them whole in the shred pile. I need to buy a hatchet.

got pics of the parts and them being sold on ebay. I get printers all the time that actually work, but I scrap them anyway.

Why in the world would you "dismiss" $30 a pop for a parts printer, therecycler? And that is not even the $2/pop for the ink cartridges at office max. Especially for the space those pri ters take up? You have to get like 350 lbs of steel or even 11 odd lbs of copper. Now sure 1 used hard drive makes that, but its $30 stitting there that can be turned over on ebay in probably a few days.

I just dont get it....printers are nit the best at money making but they are everywhere and I can sell a TON of those easily vs trying to hunt other scrap...ewaste is money packed into small packages....my 2 cents...if you guys dont want em, I will take them...lol

I'm going to make you cry then WBSTS...I smash mine to. You know tho, I can't stand eBay. An my local CL isn't just popping with folks like everyone else's it seems to buy this stuff. Granted, if I can I'll sell'm locally if I know someone is looking for one. I have a list of things folks look for that know what I do, an printers/copiers are never on that list..I get some weird requests tho..LOL.

Someone near me needs to become an eBay trader. I hate to not sell somethings but..I also know my patience an where my time is better spent an thats not on eBay or CL. I'd rather break things down, an then ship them out. If I had someone close I could get with it'd be another story, that I could just drop the stuff off an they do their thing. You know what they say though bout wishing..wish in one hand..*&^! in the other an see which fills up first. I can assure you won't be wishing hand. lol.

On the bright side, I may have someone local willing, but not untill winter when things slow down on the sandbar. Till then it's smash, store, an ship.

I've never eBayed printers but this is something I will try. I have a special printer that prints posters in the shop that suppossedly works. I might start with that. what kinds stuff out of the printer do you sell as a parts printer, boards and motors?

You can sell the whole thing if pretty light as a parts machine....otherwise generally just the plastic bits that break (paper trays, the button piece, any other easily removable covers)...and I sell as a set...can and wont keep some small part around...it all goes or gets recycled if it sits too long. Now you CAN sell some boards but check the solds on ebay 1st to see the market and you need to make sure it is working of course. Otherwise boards get pulled and scrapped. Now the ones with memory, if you can get it to turn on the memory is probably ok..just CYA and say pulled from a machine that turned on but had issues, sold as is with no warranty/return...you wont get as much as you would for tested memory but I bet more than scrap value. Just do your research before keeping something that isnt selling.

The ones in the pics above have mid grade and maybe a low grade, some of the bigger ones will have memory in them. Mid grade boards I'm getting about 2.00# and memory about 12.00#
