    Special thanks

A special thanks to all of those who have been sharing their knowledge and experience on the site. Over the past six months I've gotten to spend time hanging out with my 12 year old son, dumpster diving, collecting electronics from friends, etc. Hopefully I've improved his work ethic.

Anyway here is the tally to date-about $300 profit selling items on ebay and craigslist, $329 dollars for scrap aluminum, brass and copper, $52 for low, mid and high grade board from local buyer, $56 from gold bearing scrap by mail from a buyer on this forum , and $100 in store credit at Staples. We also ended up with lots of working electronics for free-nice inkjet printer, playstation 2, an original ColecoVision game system with 30 games, DVD player, several 2 and 4 GB micro SD cards, some Christmas lights, two CD/AM/FM clock radios (one for each kid's room) and an electronic scale. Big fun for a side job and most of the stripping/processing of the electronics I do sitting and watching t.v.

    Very nice story.

Scrapping can bring the family together and get a vacation fund (or something else) going on the side.

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing! I love that you are getting your family involved working with you.
My Daughter has been out at the shop for the last few days with me. She is 22 now.
We have had a lot of talks and now I feel like I am getting to know her better than I ever have.
It is amazing what you can learn from your kids just spending a little TIME with them.
I have come to realize that it does not even matter what you are physically doing.
There may a million better places to live than Iowa, but none of them are home!
