Ha! There is a guy on my local CL list who does this..posts his ad weekly sometimes even daily, buying old stereo/radios, an fishing gear.

So one day I emailed him, cause I had this really old stereo, and I didn't want to scrap it, so figured..hey..15 or 20 bucks would be better then what I'd get breaking it down, etc. Same with some fishing gear I had lying around from a pick up. Emailed him. No reply. Emailed again..no reply. I emailed that fool weekly just to see if I could get a reply. Nothing. To this day I've never gotten a reply, yet he still posts he's looking for this stuff.

I mean ****, lest email an tell me to go jump off a cliff or something, or a "Hey not interested, but thanks!"..buncha buttheads! This an all the posts above are why I just scrap most the stuff I get unless I can help someone on here, or by spreading the word locally. Spreading the word seems to work best for me, I get more sales by telling my network what I have at the time, an my current prices. Now an then I get a bite, an if not..off it goes!

I'm a scrapper, not a sales man. This thread is why I don't deal with eBay, or waste anymore time with CL. Yes I'm losing out on more money, but hey if folks aren't going to reply, or be a dumb ass about it, I'll just take my money/item an move on. Somethings I do hold on to though..like the elliptical, flat screen monitors I have(slowly but surely those are all starting to go now!), an a few other things I'm saving for the winter when a buddy's wife will be doing some ebay sales for me.

I don't suffer fools, what patience I had for such things I lost after doing retail for 20 years. LOL.

Getting real sick of no shows.... Does nobody have any decency these days!?

my CL ad states clearly "buy old cell phones 50 cents each". Cant tell you how many calls i get from people that start describing their six month old Galaxy phone with xyz features....and ask how much i give for it. "Um....50cents?" i respond. usually the conversations after that dont bear repeating

There is an old saying. 'Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" course I guess there was that little matter of that thing in Troy a while back . but the bottom line is every one knows the reputation of Craig's list and some of the flakes on it. If you use it, and I do sometimes, you just have to roll the dice. Craigs list is a gamble and every one knows it,some times you win and some times you lose.

You just have to use some common sence to try to keep the wins big and the loses small. just my .02

There's a chance the reason for this is Craigslist itself. Peoples email gets blocked(without notice) by CL for several reasons, and they might not even realize it. Mine got this treatment once because I'd emailed through my own ad to see if messages were even working, so my emails were seen as spamming or some such crud, and it took me several months of digging and searching to figure that one out. No email was coming through from CL to my addy. It took 90 days(which turned in to 6 months or more) of inactivity on my CL account for it to get reset(they won't help ya there either ; )
I'm just saying that guys email may be getting the same treatment for some reason that he is not aware of

Or there's a delay. I got an email requesting my shave ice services for a birthday. It came into my inbox a month later. By then the birthday had passed. I felt bad and messaged her. Never heard back.

If this guy hadn't been running the ad for over a year + I'd agree, but I;m a pessimist at this point with him an his ad. Heh, it's cool tho, my shop got flooded during a storm earlier this year(It happens mainly during hurricanes an nor'easters), an the stereo is mounted in a old cabinet needless to say it's scrap fodder now, I didn't have enough pallets to raise it the 3 feet required to be above the flood line, so it'll be scrapped unless I put it in a yard sale for someone to try an tinker with. Well...I should say the cabinet is shot, an the record player as it was on the bottom shelf, the 8 track/radio part was high enough to not get any damage. Saddened me tho, it was a cool old stereo, Montgomery ward Aire or something like that, one from the early 70s. I think I got it for free at a yard sale. My important stuff gets raised before things like that. Rather have it ruined, then my tools, wife's furniture, etc. I got way more valuable items in my shop to worry over. Selfish I know..but hey.

Just annoyed me. I still got the fishing gear if anyone needs some poles! I don't fish, I just go with no line an sit an enjoy my cooler. LOL.
