Dude, I had a 2 different guys text me and asked if I would deliver them a $15 tire off a scrap car. Mind you I sell my used tires CHEAP.. Any shop around here will charge $30-$35 bucks for a used tire and then nail them with the "balance, valve stem etc." I'm really trying to do people a favor and make some money off the car- without trying to compete with a shop.. So I had two different guys- one north of me and one south of me ask if I would deliver a tire to them.

My response: Well, let's see, I'd lose billable time, It would cost me $8 bucks in gas.. so no.. it isn't worth it to me to lose $ on what I'm trying to sell you.
    One guy got the hint
The Second guy said "Well yeah dude, but I don't have a car that I can get to you.. THAT'S WHY I NEED THE TIRE!" Oy! Maybe he doesn't have a friend.. or a mommy.. or the phone number to a taxi company *Shrug*

Could post in your ads that you will not deliver. However, given the propensity of people to completely gloss over pertinent info, I'd say you'd be wasting your time.

I actually do this now after the second tire delivery request.. I post "Sadly I have to post this in the ad now: I cannot and do not deliver"
    Has worked thus far.

I remember seeing ads where people really seemed unapproachable- bordering on @ssholes themselves.. NOW.. I know why!

I have a thrift store that I get all the stuff that they can't sell or do not want. I have to take everything even TV's that I don't want but I know a guy that will take them and he gives me back the boards from them. I also know another scrapper that wants TV's and monitors so I told him he could have all the TV's from this thrift store if he would go pick them up. He said "no I don't make enough money too go pick them up" but he wants me to pick them up and bring them to him for free. Needless to say I bring them to the guy that gives me the boards. This thread is why I don't even try to sell stuff, I just brake every thing down and sell it as scrap. I might lose some money but don't lose my mind. I hope that everybody that posted on this thread treats people better than the people that your talking about.

I think that is the point. All of us are working hard to treat people with respect- respect for person, respect for their time.. and we are NOT getting it in return.. thus the rant!

I run into this as well... A waste of time and fuel.

I know it would've been a waste and spiteful, but I think I would've core'd it anyway! People like this don't need to be reinforced for this kind of behavior.

Im not gonna sell him almost new tires for 25 bucks a piece, thats a smokin deal he doesnt deserve. Id rather help out a local customer that comes to our shop.

Might as well, i hate holding on to tires for ages... I just found a beauty set of 4 at the curb last week. Got em priced at 25 a piece. Should be a quick sell.

Funny cause the guy had a 1800 GOT JUNK truck and as we drove up i joked "hey i wonder if this guys got any junk" turns out his place was the best score of the night.

What gets me is CL ads to buy and you have several items on there list and they don't even email back and say they are all set or whatever.
