Out on the trapline today on one of the farms that I trap, I noticed a car in the woods not even 30 yards from the field edge. Went up to look at it and there was 2 cars, One more so just a farm, and the other an actual body.

What I'm wondering is, how should I approach the land owner about this? Should I offer to split the take?
How would I go about dismantling? I know about a Torch as I'm taking Welding in high school right now. I'm just wanting some input on how some of you farm/car scrappers go about doing jobs like this?

If I put a winch on my trailer do you think I could probably just back the trailer up the wood path and winch them up on?

Am I gunna need a title for the one that the body is there?

Here's the pics, let me know of any info/suggestion/concerns you have, I'm probably gunna ask the land owner about it this spring.

This is the trail going back to the cars

    Here they are,

Here's the dirt/stone road leading up to the entrance path to the woods, so I'd have no trouble backing my trailer up here to load those cars.

    Thanks guys!

As for the title, u shouldn't need one. Around here u only need a title if car is 96 or newer (ky). As for the landowner.... if u know him pretty good just come out and ask. Offer to give him 75 dollars or so. If u don't know him very well, then this is what I would do... introduce myself and tell him what u do for a living, and it will help if u tell him u are in school and trying to earn ur way to making a living or something like that. Give him a card or contact info. Then ask him what he is planning on doing with the old cars in the woods. He could say "imma gonna scrap'em. In which u would offer to do all the work, completly clean everything up and split with him 30/70 or 60/40 or 50/50 if u think it is worth it. He also could say "u git 'em u have 'em. After u finish u can offer him like 100 or something to brighten his day and that will help him tell his other farmer buddies about u.
U might have to give him a day or so to think it over. Give him ur contact info and hopefully he calls u soon. Don't be too pushy though. That will hurt u.
And u never know, he might have a shed full of old CB or other electronics stashed away somewhere.

Be careful and keep us posted. Love to read this thread. I remeber when I was in high school. Never thought anything about scrappin.

Whats that long body from? A bus?

You shouldn't need titles for those since you'd be cutting them up.

Do your homework to determine if there is any resale value in the body parts. You will hate yourself if you find out all those chrome parts are worth a whole lot more than scrap. Not to mention one of the head light assemblies. Mike.

Some of the stainless trim, bumpers, grille, other small parts may be worth a lot more than scrap, even if they are not perfect. Those parts can usually be straightened and restored. I would do a bit of research before scrapping everything.

WAIT WHAT? That'd be messed up to find a skeleton under a car you were scrapping, I wouldn't know what to do except call the police.

It was a private school headquarters that ran over 250 private schools around the united states. He seen one of my craigslist ads and called me. I guess I can say I'm really lucky lol. I still am selling stuff from that load, my basement still is a mess from it haha. Almost all gone though, Im already in the process of contacting other businesses about their E Scrap.
