    Another Kochy scrapper.

**CHECK THE LOAD OUT ON PAGE 5!!!

I've been wanting to make a little thread about my scrapping adventures for a long time, now that I'm getting some good scores and deals, I want to pretty much document my success and let others see my success as well. I plan to update this as I go on my scrapping adventures.

    A little background knowledge on my scrapping;

I live in rural Central pennsylvania, I'm about 10 miles from a small town or if it would be a tiny city, with a population of maybe 20,000. That's where I go to school, we don't have bulk trash pick up or curbshopping here, so all my scrap comes through word of mouth, road signs, business cards, and craigslist. I have a 2 door Stepside Silverado 1500, and a 5 x 10 trailer and now a 16ft car trailer, my dad sometimes helps me out and he has a Chevy Express 2500 Cargo van that gets better MPG then my truck, so on long hauls we take that. I have almost unlimited outside space down in our old garden where we burn trash, but I'm really limited to inside space for E-waste and or ebay items. I have one basement room for it, which half the room is taken up by my moms yard sale crap.. (No comment.) I do both scrap metal and E-waste, with one of my recent big e-waste deals, it led me into the road of refurbishing, right now my application is pending on becoming a Microsoft Register Refurbisher, I am also registered with my state as a business, so anything I sell on Ebay to my state residents and or anything I sell locally I have to charge state sales tax. I'm growing tremendously and I basically want to have this thread record all my successes, so here comes the pics.

First thing, is the massive E-waste load a picked up from a private school headquarters about 2 1/2 hours away.

The inside of our van while pulling the trailer above.

    In the garage.

I don't want to put all the pictures I have on one thread so I'll be posting them in posts, I have about 3 to 4 big scrap loads to document.

Feel free to leave me feedback and or comments.

Here's a scrap load I took in a while back, forget how much I got, but it was alot due to all the non-ferrous I had.

Heres a aluminum load that I had to take in to pay for some damages.

Here's the damages I had to pay for. (Word of advice, Don't take your truck out to the strippin pits.) Went up over a hump and rocker panel hit a rock, didn't help that it was already rusted.

This wasn't from me, the back tires kicked up a screw driver on the road and it did some damage to the plastic. Eventually it started to crack.

Here's my truck after everything was fixed.

This is what a .30 - 06 does to a power supply and hard drive.

And this is what a slug does to a propane tank.

Here's a little tip about consolidating your scrap, had a lot of computer towers and put them in one of the fridges to take in.

    Load I took in today.

1700 pounds of shred. 2 car batteries and like 7 pounds of wire that I just cut off of the fridges quick. Didn't feel like breaking the appliances down since I don't really need too with my E-waste giving me a good bit.

What's the point of shooting up scrap and spreading all kinds of non biodegradables in the ground. That's counter productive and inconsiderate. That's the same kind of back woods mentally the scrapping trade is avoiding. Just make your money it don't make a mess. Nice haul. Respect the trade.

We raked everything up, nothing was left. That's my hunting land too I don't want to have it stinking up scaring all the deer

The reason we shot it up was for a lot of our friends to get together and have some fun. We had some friends come that we haven't seen for a year or two.

    WOW...really?

I'll buy your rounds next time Kochy! Nothing like blowin some stuff UP once in awhile to unwind. I am more worried about the mess city's boys make, than a good ole country boy, havin a good time! You could send me some venison, though. My freezer getin lowwww ;-)

Our Little Kochy is growing up so fast...Why I remember when he first showed up on these forums, full of questions an excited to get started..

Ok ok..Nice job Kochy, glad to see it's all working out for ya my friend. Much continued success to you an look forward to more updates to your thread.

Sirscrapalot - Some measure success by the amount they make, I say it's if you have your own thread on SMF. - Me..who else would think up such things.

And to blow off some steam, me and some buddies set up a shooting gallery. Here it is.

I like seeing the personal story threads. Keep it going. You have the space, might I suggest a shed or a lean to for your resellable stuff?

Yeah I was thinking of a Shed. My dad's been wanting to build a pole building and we'd pretty much make it a 4 car stall building and I would get some of the building for resellable and e-waste. Bigdog don't ya remember us talking trucks in private messages or what ever?

I'm currently looking at a tandem axle trailer on a Facebook Yard sale page. Its pretty cheap and its a 16 foot. 1989 year. I hope I can snag this baby.

about the only way to know is to inspect it, take you a creeper and go underneath, inspecting the undercarriage frame and welds etc. Also would need to raise each wheel and spin it, watching close for a straight and unhampered rotation(especially as it nears spinning to a stop, watch for snags/rough spots). Tug on each one back and forth for loose bearing adjustment, and possibly even pop the end caps off to see the condition of the grease. If you have a jack and a creeper that's probly a 30 minute job(with 2 axles/4 wheels)

Its basically a flat deck the back doesn't angle down as for a ramp or whatever. I would have to make some ramps.

I had my dad call the guy after we stopped and looked at it. My dad talked him down to 700. Every looks good. Good solid frame, tires are pretty good. They're only like 2 to 3 years old. So I bought a trailer! Now I can haul some cars if I want and some heavier stuff. Only thing we need to do to that is put one tail light on it which the owner has. And of course a winch . And ramps.
