Casted my line across the world and may have netted my first whale!

Recently a contact of mine got a new job as an assistant superintendent at a local school district. He told me that they were going to be in the process of updating all of their computer equipment. So I asked what was going to happen to all of their computers and he said they have a recycling company they deal with that is paying 6 dollars per tower, however he said he could get the towers for me at the same price. Score! I know that this is a little more than what people normally pay ( seeing on the board 5$ per tower ) but the possible volume of it could be huge! I will find out over the next couple weeks how many i can score.

Not bad for being on the other side of the planet eh?

You would be really working for nothing breaking them down, since prices are really low, where you can make $10 off one tower compared to when prices were up $15 a tower, essentially you would be working for very little an hour. But what I suggest, LOOK EVERYTHING UP ON EBAY. That's how you make your profit back, the recent score I got, one firewall payed for my whole investment.. So look everything up on ebay and sell for more than scrap value!!

I go beyond normal scrapping and literally get everything out of the computer as I am going to be refining a huge portion of it.

You will save quite a bit if time if you are able to pick them up in one location. As opposed to driving more miles to pick up less towers, it may pencil out. However, reselling some of the material will be where your profit will be. Keep good track of your time, expenses and mileage on this one. That will be the only way for you to determine if the $6 price will work for you in the future.

that's awesome and good luck I got my first school pick up at the beginning of the summer it was small 27 emacs and 14 ibooks but was a good $2300 payout for about 5hrs work and $10 in gas so I hope it works good for ya as I know I would be excited for a whole district of computers that's what I am trying for over this next year we have a middle school highschool and 5 elementary schools in town that would be nice to score
