Another ''just when you think folks don't notice you'' flag down today!

I tell you what, I must be doing something right. Tonight, dad and I were out and it was already dark and came across a pile set away from the regular trash. i set his flashlight down to light it up and all of a sudden I hear ''excuse me!''

Lol, when that happens you think maybe they don't want you picking up the scrap.

the house was set back quite a ways and I hollered ''hello!'' and waved.

The lady says to put my phone number in the mailbox, her hubby has a lot of metal for me and he didn't want to put it out until he knew I was coming around.

Now, I always make two runs on Sundays so my schedule is pretty regular so they must have set that pile out as ''bait'' and watched for me because like I said, it was already dark and I know there is another truck that runs that part of the area I've seen him before so they wanted me specifically to have this scrap as she was out the door in like 3 seconds. it wasn't out on the first round, tonight folks just didn't seem to have trash out until late.

I told dad, how cool is that and he says for sure! he was in the truck and said I couldn't hear a word she was saying lol.

I always wave to folks who are out even if they don't wave back and I never speed around the streets and never leave messes. This just proves that people DO take notice and it really made me feel good!!

So they called me this morning asking if I was coming around and I said yes. She says good, just back down the drive. So dad and I get there and we can see the pile down by the garage. I hear the lady holler ''she's here!'' we get out of the truck and they both come out to greet us. after we exchange names and hellos and handshakes, the man says that last week when they put that stuff out for me another guy came in a really nice truck and grabbed an edger that was there but left the rest and and he says not to put more out, to watch for me.

being a holiday weekend, and we all know how holidays can screw up a scrap run - if you go out the regular day you dont get much but if you don go you will miss a lot it seems! lol.

anyways, I had taken a quick recon drive yesterday and apparently they didnt catch me in time and said they were all, ''was that you yesterday?'' and '' I asked the wife was that her? was it a blue truck? did it have the wood sides?'' and she was like, ''I dont know, it was dark!'' lol.

So he gives me what he had, told me he is going to call me again in a couple weeks and that he has rental properties and will call me when he has stuff from them. His wife also told me that she gave my number to her brother who will be cleaning out his barn soon and to call this girl Cindy and here is her number and to be on the lookout for his call.

Like I said, I don't know why me but I thanked them profusely and told them how much I appreciate it. Very, very nice people
