    My biggest flip yet...literally

Bought this from the Frito Lay plant back in May. Auction said it ran, but no surprise when I showed up and it didn't. So the guy put it on the charger and called me back the next day saying it runs. So I make a return trip over there, and it won't start.

*But I just HAD it running*. Maybe, but it's not now...so....

He fires up another truck and brings it over to jump. Get it jumped, disconnect cables and it dies.

Seems to me the batteries are junk. Tried to get him to pay for batteries since ad said it was a running/driving truck. I forget what he said but he wasn't gonna go for it. So off I go to find a pair of refurbs. $150 later and several trips the beast is up and running. Get it home and put it up for sale.

After countless tire kickers, time wasters, jokers and even a deadbeat bidder from ebay, I sold it a few weeks ago. Paid $4,600, plus premium, batteries, tax, title, diesel, etc I was in it about $5,100. Sold for $7,000. Was beginning to wonder if I would ever flip it for a profit.

Would have been a great truck for advertising/picking up e-scrap, but I am not quite there yet to where I need something like this. Had a really nice lift gate as well.

Awesome!!! Nicely done. It appears the harder it is to get the deal.. the more they pay off it seems :-)

yeah that sucks about online auctions. You never really know about something unless you go and look at it first.

I usually preview the auctions. I didn't on this one. Wasn't a big deal, just annoying and waste of time, but overall it worked out okay.

About 5 years ago I bought a step van. Auction stated that it needed an injector pump. I got it for $700 or so, hauled it home and got a mechanic out to look at it. Didn't take him long to figure out some idiot filled it with gas. Once we got the gas out, filter change and filled with diesel it ran great. Flipped it for $3,000.

Good for you. Nice to get the payoff when you stick with it.

Ever check out dovebid.com? Tons of trucks go to auction every month in nearly every major city in the US.

I bought this last summer for $580. Drove 4 hours r/t to get it. Runs about as good as I think a '92 P30 diesel should. I am toying with turning it into a shave ice truck.
