trip to the yard. almost cried.

Went to the yard today to turn in some shred and aluminum rims. Got .63/lb for the rims for a total of 100 bucks. 30 for shred. Laughed when the guy beside me threw something behind him without looking and nailed my trailer...... Oh well lol.

Was very busy at the non ferrous area. Cube van FULL of tvs. Mostly tube, oooolldd flat screens and crt monitors.

Heres where i almost cried. He also has A bunch of complete led/lcd flat screen tvs. One dude had a bunch of thick copper wire, turning it in as insulated. And the same dude turning in copper and brass pipe, mixed together. Scale guy said wanna sort it? "naaah its fine just take it as it is"

.......................throwing money away IMO. I guess some guys cant be bothered.

They may have money or never got the education given at this forum!

The ones getting it all are the Scrap Yard Owners, what i think is better than have it all in the land field.

Not really, the only mercury in them is in the florescent light bulbs in them. The amount of mercury in those is so minuscule it doesn't really harm the environment in anyway. People throw them in the trash around here all the time.

Well my usual yard was closed and didnt tell anyone. No signs. No message on their website or on their automates phone system, so didnt have a choice for today. And to top things off. NOBODY was answering phones. Couldnt even get prices. But the place i went to today was the first time i had been there. Very impressed. Called me by my first name, even to the guy picking up the bin with my rims in it "hey bud go get that bin that jordan put his rima in" was pretty impressed with that.

Anyway iv Got 8 more at the shop still on cars that i still need to bring in.

By me you need to have ID to turn in anything other than alum cans or steel. So many times I see people throwing in much greater value stuff in with there steel.

Here you need ID for everything. They even take a pic of the vehicle at the one yard. Went today (hadnt been there for about a year) guy says ehh youve been here before, no 84 chev this time though. Dont like that yard much though. (2 locations. One for ferrous one non ferrous around the block. Went to both) Yard guy told me cast and shred was payin the same. Scale guy said 200 for cast. Hmmm

I saw whole computers and whole office printers! Forgot about those! Buddy beside me pointed them out and commented. Unreal.

I can't tell you how many times I go to the steel yard and I am unloading next to a trailer full of refrigerators with cords, copper and compressors all on. So quick to remove all of those for extra money.
