My yards all over the place , one day down on mix but up on short , then short goes down and mix is up . copper is up wile not much to do with spot price influence.
Stainless hit .49 - Al down to .46 - the more I pay attention to it the more I see no point. We have the product they get it sooner or later.
sure having a massive amt of CU or AL & other , we want to wait for that high paying day, but eventually we need funds so we sell

Yeah wish i could hold on to some, but gotta have the cash flow, but i did notice the other day at the yard , i might be able to include more plastic, i really clean my stuff, but i saw a truckload come across the scale with whole tv's,baby stollers, printers, etc etc, all the plastic left on it.So if thats the case i can save myself some time on some items.

Week before last I got $240/ton for unprepared steel. Had 8100# of truck frames so it was a nice payday. Local yards quoted $170, $195, $210. The yard at $210 bumped it up to $240. I do a lot of business, more buying than selling, with them, so I guess that was their "good customer" rate.

Naturally all yards have deferent policies to plastic %
For certain yards will always push for 100% metal But I have noticed with my yard that some times for a bunch of months they watch close and make high deductions for plastic then for 2 months that they stop looking .
I feel it has to do with who buys it from them ,
It's like a ebb & flow of the final customers purchase wishes .

I have never seen the local yard, dock anyone for plastic, but most of the loads i see when im there are generally low in plastic content, that load the other day just caught my eye, nothing was broken down. Now ive never had them complain about anything i ever brought them, but some of my buddies have seen them refuse large pipe, because of mud in them, and they said one guy came across with a cast iron tub full of dirt,They did loan him a shovel,LOL.and asked him to unload it off the premises.

A little fudging goes on , but some people take it to far. . Winter time ice filled water heaters . micro waves filled with bricks
I am a dismantle scrapper to my stuff has no hidden bricks.
The yard I sell to has dropped there mix metals to a low amt $185 $190 yet short $270 or so and Roters $300.
They are not hot on the scrappers lately and i SEE more plastic lately, and YES they pay less.
I LIKED IT BETTER WHEN THEY WATCH EVERY ONE HARD BUT PAID BETTER .

I've only been deducted for concrete in some pipes and when I bought a bunch of school desks. Took in 1 load of desks then the next we took another and the guy said his boss was b!tching at him so on deductions he wrote 20, not sure if this met pounds or dollars but when we get to the cashier she about hands us the money and were like wait we have a deduction. Shes like "I didn't see that"

Short iron would be the heavy grade iron they normally want it cut down to around two foot x three foot,This is example heavy farm equipment Mix i am assuming he is talking about fridges, freezers microwaves, stuff that might still have some plastic attached and lighter grade of metal, often called shred by those who have yards using shredders,my yard doesnt use one,but there buying to haul to some place that does. Spot price is the commodity trading price, and from what little i know it can vary from region to region," correct me if im wrong"The yards cannot give the full commodity price and make a profit so they buy at a percentage of the regional spot price, I know they do this with silver ive seen them advertise saying they pay at " ten percent below spot price"The spot price can change from day to day depending on the market. Maybe that will help ya some, somebody else my chime in with other info.

One of my buddies scored a bunch of industrial sewing tables, with wooden tops, first load they took, they said they would have to be removed on any more he brought in.

Yeah i like to dismantle my stuff as much as possible, gotta make every nickle i can,but the big advantage is i can load my trailer a lot tighter, I'm not hauling huge amounts every week, but when i do go i want to get the most for the trip.

Man, I just moved back to Florida and I'm adjusting to their lower prices. I'm holding on to all my copper. I am holding strong that it will get back close to $3.
