    4 x 4

    Is there a difference to a 4 X 4 jeep compared to a 4 X 4 ram 1500 pick up in reference to the 4 wheel drive drive-train. .
    I once had a Cherokee and in 4 wheel drive it was unstoppable even with worn tires. I was told a jeep has 4 tires going at the same time .
    While other 4 X 4 types alternate the power to each tire

    Unless it has lockers, I believe anything with differentials will allow one wheel on each axle to spin. Is that what you're getting at?

    Not sure how the newer 4x4s are. I had a car with traction control. It would apply the brakes to whichever wheel was spinning. I suppose a system like that would work in a 4x4 application.

    But I am far from an expert on power trains so yeah.

    Our old Cherokee had Quadra-Trac, where all 4 would lock in together. I pulled a heavy Rambler up a hill with 3 brakes locked with that Jeep in Quad/low range. It didn't even break a sweat with that 360 motor.

    Now that Da** motor was another pain altogether, A Ford looking motor with a Chevy firing order, Let me tell you I scratched my head for 2 days over that.

    The Quadra-Trac was an option for '73-'79 Wagoneers, Cherokees, and J-series pickups, and it was available in the CJ-7 from 1976 to 1979.

    Is the 4x on the floor? or do you have to get out and lock the hubs. My first RAM I had to get out and spin the lock on the wheels. That was a pain. Those need to be exercised regularly.

    I tink the ones on the floor should probably be as well to ensure it works when you need it. That reminds me, I have not used it since I left IL over 3 years ago. Probably need to do that myself.

    On the floor , should also give the 4L a try once in a wile

    I have a 56 GMC 6 x 6 that runs full time 6 wheel drive.......makes it hard to steer. Used to have a company owned CJ that I drove all one winter,never got it stuck,but it was a pig on fuel in 4x4.

    I am getting used to the truck and like copper @ $ 2.35 or $ 2.47 a car @ 17 mpg and a truck at 14 mpg wont make much difference
    BUT this is what made a difference

    My stock ( inventory ) has took a big hit ( theft ) I am figuring around 50% of my brass 30% of my copper
    I had not looked at much of my stash for as long as a year so I am not sure if it's been a slow stealing stile or a big hit .
    Who ever did it I feel did not want me to figure it out . as I see some shelves that had copper in a box now have things in the same place.
    It was a good hit I figure $2000. Yet as my scrap inventory is vast I still have .
    But gone is the dream that much of what i had would be of great value if CU and Brass hit the roof in price.
    I see I have to restructure and sell most of what I have as who ever is responsible is not done.
