    Question Blinds leading the Blind

Just starting out here and was recently contacted by a window blinds company allowing me to haul away their scrap after installs. The first load filled the back of my pick-up, but has left me with a question. The old slats from horizontal blinds are painted metal, yet are not magnetic. By chance, are these aluminum?

Yes, they are aluminum. A utility knife removes these real quick once you get good at it.

Retract them all the way up, cut the string at each place they are connected on the bottom bar. all the aluminum slats will come out easily.

By me they say throw them in with the dirty alum. I say they are clean painted alum. So next time I will try and turn them in as is and see if I can still get the dirty alum price!

Well I did this. They took the blinds as is (string, plastic, painted alum and steel zip tied closed) for dirty alum $.25. Clean painted alum was $.50 lb and sheet iron $.08 a pound. So I figure I did ok this way...
