3 lbs of brass is $5.40! Move your stuff around, If this guy is taking $10.00 or less every few days, It's too easy. Put out some die cast zinc maybe he will think its brass. Get a camera, mean dog, or set some kinda devise where he will no longer want to take from you. Some nice copper tubing in a beer box encrusted in dog **** may send a message! Do you think know who this person is? If so, time to make a friendly visit and punch him in the face!

Yes I am gathering but got some loose ends it's hard for me to organize the situation. I am so sure that saws other tools and more are gone . Heck i had a cast iron scale from ebay paid $20 thats gone This is a nightmare and till I catch him or police catch him he will come back . For all I know at this point it might be more then one person,

Why not do a stake out? Did that once. Works great. Call the police once you see him goin in your place. Im sure one night doing that will save you alot in the long run. Even if you need to take a sick say off work or something.

This guys coming into your house while you and your family are sleeping? I gotta say I'm surprised at your attitude towards the situation. If it happened once I'd be out in force, let alone multiple times. I wouldn't care if it's a penny, it's the principal.

    Yes I was Hit

we lock all of our stuff up nightly. we also have cameras pointed at doors/windows. I would be hesitant to let anyone "questionable" beyond the front counter/door.

Id pull stealth mode on that bastard. Park around the corner, or somewhere far enough away and cut through yards to get back in your house. Lights off, both the kid and his lookout would have no idea.

He would have quiet a surprise when he made it inside and I met him with a 12ga. nothing gets some ones attention more than the chambering of a round in a shotgun.

Man thats what im sayin! It sucks that the OP had his stuff stolen but jeez hes not doing anything about it! Just keeps saying stuff is still going missing. If it wad me id take a day/night off work and catch the bugger. Sure youll lose a days pay but youll lose more in scrap in the long run! The cops are almost useless with this stuff. Sure they will do a check once in a while but theres big gaps beyween those checks. Leaves plenty of time for someone to get in and out.

As stated cops can't help much . I do feel the lookout neighbor saw cops at my home so I think they will lay low . Since the cops showed no more stealing by the way . also house is always locked . what was going down is house was left unlocked till kids got home at 3 . Also I kept back door open for dogs to go in out . To be blunt my Pit bulls dogs are typical of true Pit dogs ,they love people . Now if a dog was taking the copper they would take the dog out.

I am asking people in my town each day I have a good idea of who it is . In time I will handle it but for now all is secure , I have to get out and find and sell .
I must continue to earn . Thats how I am pushing on .
Sure naturally I have hostility for this low life but I am not going to jail over him cause thats the twisted law we have .
But if he is ever in this home and I run into him/ I'll consider that life threating and deal to save my life .

    I must work

simple traps could help bells, strings and cans, wind chimes basically anything that could be easily set to make a lot of noise nice stack of pots and pans being knocked over is enough to scare most scumbags away. Once their element of surprise or stealth is blown only the truly desperate will continue but the vast majority are cowards and will run but I'm guessing the kids will not press on knowing their cover is blown. If they are kids and have "known" drug problems threatening and violence will not do much as it is probably part of their everyday lives already. You are doing the right thing and making it more of a problem for them to steal from you now you have to keep at it until they find an easier way to make their drug money. I for one support the copper in the nice box idea hahaha!

sorry to hear about this. This is why I work alone and don't have friends. It's very hard to find someone honest. Hide your good stuff and get some security cameras. Even some fake cameras look real. Criminals hate cameras and like easily targets.

    Yes I was

You know what in 4 years I sold brass in the area of 50 lb average per year , So naturally you can imagine I had a nice stash ,
So now I sell as i get - except for what I have boxed and hidden that is enough for now
Since I sell it as I find it I keep getting more and more conformation why this person wanted it so bad
pound for size a great payer !
Can you believe how a experienced scrapper like me was not in touch
or not used to the dealings of selling brass
    ( my brass no less)

Might check out your local pawnshops, down here they copy the drivers license of the person selling stuff, In fact one shop I know
takes a picture of you and your license.

Or file a police report an let the cops go knocking on pawn shop doors. I like my idea of two dogs trained to munch faces, and a shotgun.
