    Yes I was Hit

I was stolen from and I can see the stile was SLOW but sure . Little by little this person came into my home and took Brass copper silver (small amt )
wire Gold Even my 1 OZ copper coins I had for fun . I am sure he took more then I can even know like tools and more the loss is $1500 for sure but could exceed $2000 . I guess if precious metals ever hit high numbers I'll always remember the loss.

Surprising he could have wiped me out but did not . I feel he was steeling in a balanced way as not for me to notice .
Naturally i wanted to cash in some brass and was like holly crap
As the days go by flashes pass my memory of brass lamps GONE . Things are gone .

I see that there is no way to protect you stuff unless your home is armed with a system.
I still have plenty and I am locking up my inventory
So in a odd way I have to be grateful I finally discovered

I feel the individual had no hart and in a calculated way was going to take all in time , He was stalking me in a sense and taking as I found more.
As much as I like diversification our society can make it a pipe dream

Well I just got up & scrapped since discovery and found more scrap and made $370 in the last 2 days
For peace of mind I feel my 100's of pounds of copper and brass need to be converted to a smaller easy to hide commodities

I did find out from some one that they saw his car in my drive way . and they said they would recognize his auto. I can inquire at the yards but really whats done is done. I need for now to keep it to my self what color and car type for now
but leads are building I will give my yard a try tomorrow

Any way found 10 TV.s today and my partner is not getting ANY.
He is a S*** H**** thief scrapper who can't find the goods the real way, swishing aside maggots for 5 pounds brass as I sure did.
    well he's lower then a maggot. He's maggot ****

I see the goodness of scrap wealth the weight the vastness of a collection is hard for some to get all . Well it's not over I am going to push harder . I am picking up a motor cycle this sat along with other metals with a clean out project . Courtesy of my new USED pickup.
    Metal is my lantern

That sucks, good thing that you have a lead as to what type of car they are driving. One thing that I can say as a note of caution, I have seen you post how much stuff you have accumulated, buying silver with some of your earnings, hoarding copper, making the copper rounds and such. The problem is is that you never know who is lurking on here, weather they are a registered member or not a registered member. As much as I love to see that people are doing good in their scrapping, I wouldn't post about what I am holding on to.

To late now and to think my car was in a post. One never knows but I feel I might of been followed a time ago . wile I looked and had a load after all once loaded and headed home you gotta drive slow and cant see out the back window I think I might of sparked a interest from a fellow scrapper who always saw me with the goods .

I have seen others showing there goods and I guess some of us take the chance to share the joy of the find & pride

When I was going out curb shopping, I luckily never had anyone steal from me, except for my wife an mother in law. They would sift thru the pile and pick out things that they wanted to keep or to resell. I made it a habit of trying to flag down other scrappers to see what they did with computers, still have one guy that brings computers to my father in law, he drops them off, my father in law breaks them down then the guy comes and picks up the empty carcas and whatever scrap metal he has to get rid of.

Your items would require a sophisticated thief so your gonna be ok .
But I was finding to much to manage so some one help me manage it .
So I see a lesson scrap metal is grand but if you have to much you will attract attention from a
type of people you don't want in your life. Sadly like a dumpster i visit I am a dumpster to this individual
he will be back , What he does now when he discovers a locked home is any body's guess But I have taken precautions now for his capture . To bad I was so innocent to the reality of scrap wealth

Your correct on setting up a system for your home/business. Mine is all in one, at lest for a couple more weeks then might be an expansion coming along. Anyhow...best system I can recommend. 2 dogs, and a shot gun. It's off season on my sandbar, so I also have the wonderful county/town police now riding around doing house checks on all the streets here on my little sandbar. I always make sure to ask for a daily check if I'm off my sandbar for a trip.

Of the three I'd rather take my chances with the cops. My dogs love the taste of thief(Yes their cute, but I tell you..them dogs will munch some faces!) an I know how to load, an fire a shotgun.

Either way, that sucks Copper. Catch the bastard an then toss a freshly smelted piece of copper round at his crouch.

Game cameras are quick and instant to set up. Set one up in a shed/room/driveway that way it will capture comings and goings. No flash to be sneaky. Or I know a guy who has a broken one and uses the flash as a deterant. The only thing they never seem to capture is deer.

Olddude found that out long ago, with what he calls lurkers. You might have one on here as a nightly guest and would never know it, and they can read about your exploits and keep track of what you have for inventory. Just never know,,,

Ah, had the same thing (house getting broken into) happen last month.

Turns out it was 2 mid teens kids, one who knew me & knew I had 'goods' (anything valueable) I have caught one of his mates breaking in before, he's doing 2 1/2 for bashing a grandfather (after bashing a Grandmother a few years ago. Thats his name "Granny basher")

Gotta meeting with the kids & their parents (who WILL pay the cost...) & SIPS ("Helping those - who help themselves") youth persons court. In a couple of months.

A couple of months... Hell, when a dog bites you, you kick it promptly. Not two months later.....

My dogs have proven that at best they are alarm dogs . , apparently they don't protect as many other breeds , I guess its how i raised them.
The breed Pit Bull mixed with mastiff . the real hit was when I was away in Georgia but he also came back when we cane home .
It really amazed me as a scrapper how some one can go into another scrappers home see Pics of your kids on the wall an just take stuff that has more value then money.
Lucky finds don't grow on trees
All in All I regret the loss But I don't regret the new found wisdom of the event . it's a full circle of emotion and the development of true reality of how much a business scrapping is . The metals we all find , each and every piece has decisions put forth on it . Aside as to what it is ,
comes the real decision sell now or hold . If you chose hold then safe Gard it . don't let it be exposed to all as one day he will show up, the parasite that he is.
you must make a larger then life effort to safe Gard your finds . Collecting and collecting with out proper inventory control , theft prevention ,& quantity records could very well have you collecting for sickie fingers .
These theft scrappers are crafty , essentially they work it out that you work for them and they reap the rewards , THEY ARE PARASITES. In the end greed and a thirst for money will cause there discovery but they can get a great run till then

Wow, sorry to hear about this. Did you say you leave your doors unlocked? I guess out in the country that's normal. Take it as a lesson in life, learn from it and grow. I would love to catch someone in my house stealing, we would have a "chat" before the police came. "Sorry officer I think he fell down the stairs".

Thats one law i wish canada would adapt. The ability to "defend" your house or property. There was an article a while back, a burgler fell through someones skylite and sued the owner of the house he was burglarizing, AND WON. Can lay a finger on anyone up here. Unless they pose immediate danger to your life. Say someones breaking into your car and you go out and clock them, they can have you charged with assault. Our legal system is so flawed...
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

That's a highly debated subject here in recent years. Laws vary state by state, some are like what you describe. While others give you the ability to defend yourself or property. But, like the firearm instructors tell everyone "dead men don't talk.".
